I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Nice qoute from Shelby Starnes (Troponin Nutrition)

150lbs 3x5 Squat - New PR - heavy but not too heavy... perhaps a corner turned???
95lbs 3x5 Press
5x10 Weighted BackExtensions - (ill start with 10lbs) - done.
Chins 3xF (6, 5, 6) with band - kipped a couple on last set... bad fgnm...

Cautiously optimistic about 195lbs by Nov 30th... 45/5 = 9 workouts... not that far off really... maybe have to skip that metabolic workout or add it at the end of a friday workout so ive got sat and sun to recover... have to see... but nonetheless its definitely doable by thanksgiving...

Congratulations on the new squat PR.

It really feels good when you make these cornerstone events. They might seem small to the guy flopping around on some machine, but you did real work, with real effort. That is recognized here. :D

That's a great feeling I'm betting, hitting that PR and knowing you'll be able to keep adding next time. Congrats

Thanks all... short very short workout tonight... it was kinda hard to concentrate with my son (hes 4 1/2) watching starwars in the background saying "dad, dad, dad... ok... im gonna pretend to throw lightning from my hands and you say 'wow, thats so cool, i cant do that... ' " and then watching his jedi moves in between sets of heavy squats... that and then having to fend off darth vader between bench press sets... in the end it was worth it :)

155lbs 3x5 Squat - New PR - heavy dam heavy... got 5 hours of sleep, crappy nutrition, crappy warm up... form got sketchy on rep 4 of last set... will do this again.
140lbs Bench press... 4, 3, 3... heavy felt like i didnt know how to move the bar... seems like with a really heavy bench i "get stupid" and forget how to bench...
205lbs Deadlift... Wow... unbelievably heavy form was all over... gonna deload (and remember to deload) back to 185lbs and work back up... plus im going to see a coach next week to help me with my nutrition and help me on my form... plus my next masters course will be complete saturday so ill have more time to focus on the important things in my life (kids, wife, lifting, and sleep in that order)

Hey pg... i think i can come to your meet... is there a cost or just showup at a specific time?

more later everyone.

Congratulations on the new squat PR :D .

Kudos on being with you kid.

If you go to the meet, we want details on how it went (even if you don't lift).

No cost to get in. I do believe it is an all day event meaning 9-5ish. I plan on being there between 11 & 12 depending on what time grandma picks up the kids. And for the record I am going as a spectator not a competitor.

FatGuyNoMore wrote:Starting a Training log... well cause I gotta post it somewhere.

Something in me changed about 2 years ago a switch went off and I decided to change my life.

At the time I was 32, 378lbs, and not really capable of walking to and from my car without getting winded.

I got my diet right, started walking, set some goals, trained as much as I could and started dropping two pounds a week... after 18 months I had lost 180lbs... That was 8 months ago.

Gosh,
FGNM ( :) )
I am glad to have come across your log.
I dont have to start as far as you did but I am so definitely encouraged.
I am now sure I can do this too although I currently lack the knowledge.
But I am sure reading the rest of your log and a crowd of others at this forum will keep me motivated.
