I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

My wife is a runner, and I enjoy weights and cycling. We live a very active and healthy lifestyle. She went to her Dr. to talk about some pain in her toe after a marathon. The Dr., who is an obese young woman, gave my wife some inaccurate info about running, but that's not really my problem. We would like to find a doctor that is athletic. ...one that understands more about athletic bodies and how to treat things related.

Do you have a primary care doctor that works out regularly? Would you go see a doctor who doesn't take care of herself?

Also, how do I find a doctor that fits my lifestyle? Any resources online for this?

My doc is a South African guy who works out and played rugby back in his day. I like him because when I went to see him due to some random lower back pain that I wanted to get checked out before continuing working out, he told me: "Now understand that if it turns out you have a lower back problem, I might tell you to work out harder than before, not to stop."

I'm not sure about how to find a doctor, but I know I'd also much rather prefer someone that for all of their knowledge on how the human body works, actually takes care of theirs.

Yeah, i would find it very hard to listen to health advice from someone who is obviously not healthy.
Goals:
Squat- 315 lbs 5x5
Deadlift- 400 lbs 1x5 (regular grip)
Press- 205 lbs 1x5
Current (known) 1RM:
Squat: 371 lbs
Clean: 220 lbs

Rather than finding a Dr that is healthy, how about finding a Dr that believes in your healthy beleifs or is open to your own input and recommendations and input.

My own Dr is a casual friend. We're the same age and we run into each other a lot because our kids participate in the same activities. He's not in very good shape and works all the time. He's got 7 kids and almost never takes any time off and doesn't workout. Most Dr's pull so many hours and crazy shifts it's easy for them to forget to take care of themselves.

But what's important to me is he listens to me and what's going on. I lost a lot of weight low-carbing and he's been there cheering me on. He's always been open to new ideas and research, just not what was in style when he was in medial school. Remember...your doctor works for you. Your paying for his or her service and can fire them if you need to. It's ok to let them go and look for someone else.

This is the truth, these guys/gals are not god's. Ask questions and don't let them bullshit you.
