I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

First work out few questions

I first did the stronglifts 5x5 about 6 months ago then stop going to the gym after 2 months. I have just started again as i have build a gym in my garage.

Today i started but instead of starting on just the bar for squats i started at 40kg. I managed to this fine but my leg did hurt a little on the 2nd set then it got better near the end. I will warm up more next time. My question is was i silly started on 40kg? Should I now stay at 40kg for my next work out then work my up or should i decrease a bit?

Bench Press i started at 40kg and this was fine

Invented rows I struggled with these i tried using the bench but this was to hard so i put my feet flat on the floor. I could lift myself up quite close to the bar but it felt like i was trying to push my belly out to hit it. Should i just carry on? will these get easier.

Press up i did 10 ,6 ,8 I pointed my hand inwards i take it this is fine.

Reverse crunch I did not have a ball so i held onto the bottom of the bench i will buy something better to hold. I managed 12,10,8.

Any advice would be good.

Thanks.

if you don't see yourself doing the same exercise 5x5 with 2.5kg more after 2 days, cut back the weight by about 20% or even more if you don't believe that youll be able to add 2.5kg in an exercise every workout for at least a month.

it's all about the long term results in the end. prepare your body. teach it so it learns :)
