I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

@ Kathy - Yep, talking sports in a strange English way inferring that Mark's team are a load of jessies.

@ Blueblah - Yep, that Mark is rather dodgy - but he's getting to be rather strong too.

I've been working on form the last 3 weeks and getting used to my new kit. Not much progress on the numbers front but things on all lifts feel safer and better. I'm going through Starting Strength for the second time now and everything seems more natural. This is the first session that I increased the weight and there's no stopping me now. Diet is great; eating to gain strength and I'm ready for blood, sweat and tears.

Tue 10 Nov 2009

Soft tissue work, incline walk, stretching
Squats @ 57.5kg= 5/5/5/5/5
Ohp @ 32.5kg= 5/5/5
Deads @ 90kg= 5/5/5
3 sets of prones @ 45 secs
Supermans
Stretching

Don't know whether I mentioned this before but I had an arm wrestle with a mate a few years back and he nearly ripped my arm off - I stood no chance. Had a rematch the other week; I didn't win but he gave in and we called it a draw after 3 attempts. Also went out for a beer with an old buddy I hadn't seen for a year or so and he couldn't believe the change in my appearance. My lift numbers aren't great but the whole deal is definitely working.

Hey foxy, good to see you back and congrats on practicing form, its probably the hardest challenge mentally to keep going back to basics. But it does mean you can push yourself more when you get past previous plateaus.

I've noticed there are not too many that can beat me in an arm wrestle these days - although the trick is to force their wrist into a position where they can't apply any force! Once you've done that, getting them down is easy!

Nice story Foxybass. It's stories like this which makes me and others admire strength training. Have a arm wrestle with him a year from now you should be able to beat him. Let that thought keep you pushing on.

Peace. 8)

Cheers ad and rere. Man, am I struggling at the moment. I'm in bed writing this from my iPod and it's painfully slow. I've had a serious bout of stomache upset since last Thursday and it's knocked me for 6. I'm so frustrated. I've hardly eaten the last 3 days because if I do it runs out the other end before I know it. Hope to be back at it very soon

over and out.

That's one way to lose weight Dave. You'll be back in action and squitting, I mean squatting, like a good un in no time mate.

Cheers lads

A definite marked improvement today. It was an absolute dream to have the confidence to crimp a fart off this afternoon. The stomach still aches like hell every now and then though.

I'm a bit peed at the recent Stronglifts Don't Eat Breakfast email. I feel like a bit of a sucker. I've decided to take a break from Stronglifts and maybe come back in a few months.

I'm getting the Starting Strength DVD and the Magnificent Mobility DVD and a few books such as The New Rules of Lifting for Christmas. My main focus during the next few months is fat loss. I know this contradicts my recent intentions but as a FFB (former fat boy) I just can not eat enough to gain strength without going back to the old clothes; I don't want this especially with Christmas coming up.

Also my mobility is dreadful. I believe it's the major reason why my squat form is not as good as it should be.

I'll still pop in the forum every now and then and I'll be back 100% when I'm happy with my squats and I'm confident enough to eat what's needed to get stronger.

I'll see you in the next life brother.....

Glad your improving Mr Poo Pants! Although the info about farting may have been a tad too much.

I feel the same way you do regarding the breakfast blog. All this talk about eating tons of food (which only makes my clothes tighter in the wrong places) and now comes the info going the other direction. I stopped listening to the food info early on so my clothes would still fit!

Enjoy the reading, video watching and your new home gym. Good thing I don't live close by or else I'd be pestering you to use it too! Drop a line when you get the chance.

Happy training!

It's a shame you're stopping it Dave, just when you said you were feeling good about the improvements people have noticed. The SS DVD is a good one, so that will be a great prezzie.

Do you feel like a sucker because you started eating breakfast after reading Mehdi's advice and now he's suggesting you skip it if you want to lose weight?

Mobility is one of the hardset (and most neglected) parts of the process. I do no mobility work and my grip on the squat is very questionable, but it's just so boring to do the drills.

Best of luck with your new approach. Will you be logging it somewhere else?

7 Reasons not to eat Breakfast
5 Reasons to eat Breakfast

??

It's a perspective thing Dave - look at this in context.
The whole 'don't eat breakfast' is more in line with the Intermittent Fasting type diet.

I, for one, will always eat breakfast as this fits in with my lifestyle. Fasting is not something for me but you have to see it as a possible option as part of a bigger picture. Just as there is Stronglifts, Starting Strength etc - it's just different ways to skin a cat.

Hope to see you back soon - just remember doing what you've been doing got you this:
