I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hi vajra. Welcome to stronglifts. I'd just like to ask 1 question (for starters hehe), is it you in your display pic? It looks massively ripped! :D

vajra,
two workouts a day, 6 days a week, does sound like a bit too much. but i cant be judgmental at this point. i guess after spending years in weight training, one finds out what works best for ones body, and experimenting/exploring with different workouts becomes part of the process. whats your take on stronglifts?

96kg to 64kg, that's quite a leap in weight loss. congratulations on that. when u said you eat when you are hungry, does that mean eat a little every 2-4hrs?
boiled eggs with rajma. hmmm sounds good, i can imagine munching it away with some hot wheat chapatis.

Rockfella,

'sattu' (ground chickpea) has a good amount of carbohydrate, but is also a good source of protein too. here is a link to the nutrition data of chichpea flour (basan), maybe not the same as sattu, but should be close. Like any other product with higher amounts carbohydrate, consuming too much of it or not working out enough, can lead to gaining unwanted weight. but otherwise i would think it is a good source of energy and protein. I'm thinking of trying out some too.

Hey there nilan.
No no. I am not that ripped, (body fat around 14%, impedance testing so not too sure). I just love back exercises. so am glad it shows at least :). photo's taken in my room/gym/study. you can see my bed in front of me. i can flop down and sleep anytime i want to during a workout. talk about recovery :). My weakest body part is my chest. I plan to start hitting chest exclusively with floor presses as soon as I can get two sturdy stools made to keep the barbell on.what sort of program are you on?

Anand
checked out your meal plan earlier in the thread. looked really well thought out to me. you will be making some fast progress man.
you are right. I eat small meals throughout the day. It might be only a handful of nuts/ a glass of sattu/a big bowl of dal and some rajma 'n eggs (and yeah they taste really great :)) but I consider it a meal. total 7-8 meals. Haven’t tried bajra sattu yet Rockfella.

any further news on the albumen powder? anyone tried it yet? know anyone who's tried it? if its value for money i'll run out and buy some.

I couldn't find any here. So I asked my brother to bring them when he came home from UK a couple of months back.

BTW, I couldn't find chalk too. But this site sells good stuff (5 chalk balls for 10 pounds). They ship free to India too. Mine arrived a few days back - cost me only Rs. 792/-.

rockfella, fat calipers can be bought from the website u mentioned lbnutrition.com, here is the link to the product. It costs about Rs.990. i dont know the ratings of the instrument, but it seems to be a resonable product for the price

Hi,

I am Ram from Chennai. Doing exercises because I am fat. I am a vegetarian, no eggs. I am in a negative calorific balance and I consume milk and paneer every day to take care of my protein needs. I drink 500 ml milk and eat about 100 g raw paneer.

I am not looking for any muscle gains, but just to drop weight with out becoming weak. I have just begun and therefore have more to learn than to say.

Hi Guys,
I'm a mallu guy in dubai, been doing stronglifts for five weeks now, and enjoying it. last week two seperate incidents of people asking me if i've been going to the gym, always a great feeling :-)

Hope this thread hasn't dies yet, no activity for a few days now. I've read through the whole thread, and its great having the benefit of other desi's perspectives on strength training. The diet ideas are the best - i don't cook, living with family and all, and my mum makes GREAT food :-). But i've already cut back on rice, and trying to find other carbs i can drop. My main staple are 'atta' chapati's, and the occasional 'maida' parathas. Anybody know what the nutritional stats on these are? What about the typcial 'ghar ka' chicken/mutton curry? Usually fairly oily and therefore high fat - i'm trying (and mostly failing) to avoid these, but is it ok to have them if they are low carb? They must be low carb, right?

Welcome nihalf. The nutritional content of the paranthas/rotis were there on some site i don't remember now unfortunately. I'd go to guru. He gave me the link, so it's possible he might be having it still.

Carbs...oh what to say of them. Our Indian diet is so FULL of carbs it makes me cringe! And it's ingrained in our psyche as well. Avoid/reduce carbs.
I only take rice in the weekends. Avoid it totally during the weekdays.

And yes, in breakfast I have 3 rotis. And a couple of bananas thrown in the evening.

By all means gorge on those mutton and chickens. More than the fat they might contain i'm interested only in their protein content.
Yummy proteins!
