I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Started SL 5X5 1 week ago.

I'm 23 years old. Have been working out on and off for years and never really got anywhere I wanted. I played rugby from the age of 10 - 18, but quit once I left for university. Consequently put on some belly fat!

I started working out again almost a year ago, doing isolations and going for as much weight as possible not really concentrating on technique. This has meant little progress and I haven't changed shape very much.

Current Stats,

5'11"
90kg
Squat 70kg
Dead Lift 80kg (was 100kg, but read up on proper technique!)
OHP 40kg
Bench 70kg
chin ups 5
pull ups 1-2

I'm concentrating on technique at the moment as having read a lot on the squat technique I need to strech more to prevent my lower back from curving.

Gonna track my progress here so my improvements are visable and I have to keep it up.

Think my stats look at little out of proportion to each other, which I believe comes from working out before on islolations and so on.

Going to the gym tonight. Legs still feel rough from squatting on Monday so will see how that goes, going to work on streching hamstring and tensing glutes (really hard to do!) on squats and get this technique perfected.
weight 95Kg

SO, didn't go too well last night on the Squats.

Legs were sore still from Monday, so to concentrate on technique I had to drop the weight to 60kg.

Think I'm struggling with flexibility on this one. When I go below parallel my lower back arches, but I'm doing stretches and will be working on this to get it down properly.

So stats this workout

Squat 60kg
Bench 70kg
inverted row 12,8,6
push ups 20,28,15
reverse crunch 16kg.

feeling good about the rest of the workout.

next goal - Nutrition! recovery isn't great, but I am feeling stronger and my posture has improved.

have got the sqaut going really well.

Took the weight down to 50Kg and could go all the way down without arching my back. Am now working on bringing the weight up.

So Friday

Squat 50Kg
OHP 42.5 kg
dead lift 80kg - this felt much better too.

Monday

Squat 52.5 - felt good the wieght should be ok now for strength building.
bench 72.5

Looking forward to wednesday.

Been eating like a horse, although sleeping has been hard to get 8 hours in.

Will post again on wednesday, this is definitly a good idea!
