I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I'm back.

Whilst away I only managed 2 bodyweight workouts in the week.

1) Warmed up with jump rope, managed about 70 consecutive rope turns without stopping.

Alternated sets of Push ups, Sit-ups and air squats, with as much rest as I wanted between them.

Push ups : 10,7,4,7,4
Sit ups : 15, 10, 10, 10, 14
Air squats: 19,24,21,21,27

2) A couple of days later.

Warmed up with jump rope, managed exactly 100 consecutive rope turns without stopping.

Alternated sets of Push ups, Sit-ups and Air squats, plenty of rest.

Push ups : 10,12,
Sit ups : 15, 12,
Air squats: 27,34,21

Pretty poor really. In spite of plenty of rest very noticable drop off in numbers as I worked through the sets.

Pleased with the skipping though. Previous best for uninterupted rope turns was about 50 before I caught the rope on my foot or similar. Havent got the rope out for a few months either.

=========
1-nov-09 : No workout, spent the day dealing with plumbers, de-humidifiers, towels etc due to toilet systern that decided to leak while we were away.

4-Nov-09 : Overslept. Went to Forcesfit session this evening as penance.

Sore finger still giving me grief. Might have done a little move than just bruising it as it has been about 3 weeks now. Thinking about going to see the doc.

If it hasn't healed by itself then i would second going to the doctor.

Nice to see you back anyway - hope you enjoyed your week away!

Yep, thoroughly enjoyed the week away, thanks. Ate way too much (what do you mean, all you can eat ribs isn't a personal challenge), drank a bit too much and did too little exercise.

Gained over 2kg in a week! Would have been great if I was trying to gain lol.

The finger is better than it was, but it still doesn't have full flexibility and carrying heavyish shopping bags, suitcases etc in my left hand can be difficult. Lifting a barbell is fine though. Am going to give it until next week and if no more improvement will book in with the doc.

Cheers

Peter

Not doing a good job with my training or logging over the last week. Summary follows

10/11/2009 PM ForcesFit
11/11/2009 PM ForcesFit

Like I said not a good week for training. Have been consistently failing to get up early enough to train before work, various pressures hindering after work training.

Off to hospital for an operation in the morning and then 1-4 weeks without training (probably ... have to see how it goes).

I hope the surgery goes well and that you heal up faster than you anticipate!

Thanks for the well wishes!

As far as I have been told all went well, now I just have to see how well the open wound alongside my tailbone heals (Pilonidal absys removal).

I can probably do some stuff like pull ups, push ups, prone bridges and perhaps overhead presses in the very near future.

I am going to be avoiding tension and movement in the posterior chain and anything that involves sitting (bench, sit-ups etc) until everything is healed up.

Didn't manage to blag an xray for my finger though (the two consultant's who could have referred me for a hand xray from the Addenbrookes day surgery centre weren't in today).

I had to take my mum to a hospital appointment today, so I thought I would pop into A&E to see if they could check out my finger.

Yep, there was a fracture. Mostly healed up now. No sports for 6 weeks from date of injury.

So on top of my 'no training' due to the op, I now have a double 'no trainng' while my finger heals. The good news is that they are both in sync and I should be able to start light training at the end of next week.

Adam, Nelka

Thanks. Hope to back into lifting in a week or two.

In the meantime I now have bunch of scaffolding to make into a power rack to keep me occupied. Just need to find a willing helper as I am a bit wary of messing with the scaffolding on my own with a strapped up finger.

Time for a brief update.

Still not training as my finger still hasn't healed up and the wound from my op appears to have picked up a slight infection.

Have a doctors appointment for next wednesday to discuss the finger and I finished the antibiotics course today.

Looks like I am out of action for a while longer.

It's a bloody conspiracy I tell you.

First an op (OK I was expecting that), then a fractured finger, and an infection.

Now it seems I have swine flu!

Someone, somewhere doesn't want me to train. At the current rate I am going to have to restart SL from the empty bar.

- Sorry, had to vent somewhere.

Man that sucks. I don't mind holidays as you can plan your training around those - but when your ill it never comes at a good time for your workouts (or anything else for that matter!) - typically when your ready to set some PRs. Hope you get better soon.
