I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Unfortunately, because I went for the 185kg set, I have to use 4 x 20, 2 x 15 & 2 x 5 + the bar and collars. I doesn't look quite as sexy, but it still feels bloody heavy mate!

Tell me about it
My 182.5 was
2x25, 4x20, 2x15, 2x1.25 + bar
May have to think about selling the 2x25 and 2x15 and buying 4x20 to make it look better
It just doesn't look right

I think it looks old school!

And Mouse, methinks you'd be better of with 4x25, given the way you are lifting!

I agree. In fact I would go further. I reckon you need to buy 6 more 25kg plates, then you could have 4 x 25 on each side, and the bar and collars at 20kg! I don't see any reason why, by this time next year, you won't be DLing 220!!!

Good numbers willie!!! Loving the DL! I got as high as 130kgs before deloading due to form, I can only imagine how much fun it is playing with the big set!

How are you finding 5x5 on squats? I'm contemplating dropping to 3x5 as per a few others on here, but feel like I owe it to the programme to stick with 5x5 for as long as possible. 5x5 tends to destroy me on the 4th and 5th sets over 90kgs though....

At 95kg BW you shouldn't have a problem with 5x5 90kg, me thinks, unless something else is not in check.
There are plenty examples of people around here still doing 5x5 over their BW.

@FGNM. Hey dude. Thinking back, probably about the same, maybe a little lighter on bench and squat. I'd only just got back into the weights when I discovered 5 x 5.

@nburge. 5 x 5 is tough now the weights are heavy, and I seem to suffer as much with the lowbar position as with the weight itself. I do still worry about my form though.

Another busy weekend with not much time to spare, hence next WO will be tomorrow night. Last night was strange, very warm and humid, and I didn't sleep a wink all night. There's no wonder I don't make progress like I want to. :?

I'm having the same problem with the temperature here now. My girfriend insists on opening the window at night, which in London has the problem of letting all the noise in as well as every grain of pollen in Christendom to aggravate my hayfever. The pills for that don't exactly make me sprightly either!!! Still the bright mornings and light in the evenings improve my mood and make me more keen on getting to the gym. I guess we just have to keep plodding through it!

Have you found a ridge on your back to rest the bar when doing low bar squats? I found that once and then it was simple every time after. I did look for it with a lot lower weight than you're squatting though!!! Good luck!

Let me start by apologizing for the pathetic numbers that follow :( . I've had a lot on lately, and my mind has been else where, couple that with bugger all sleep, and another attack of bad guts, and this is what you're left with. I'm ashamed to have to record it :x .

Workout A
Squat 80 kgs 5,5,5,5,5
Bench 70kgs 5,5,5,5,5

Squat: Because of the tummy upset I've been feeling a bit weak, plus I'm a member of the 'squat 'til you crap your self' club so I lowered the weight to be on the safe side.

Bench: Although I managed these it was a struggle, and once I'd done them I'd had enough. A real low point. :(

@nburge. To be honest mate I don't know!!! I'm still not overly comfortable with lowbar, but if I haven't got a ridge now, I'm hoping to wear one in! :D

Good effort working out whilst you feel crappy! And good luck wearing that ridge in... I'm sure you'll get it soon. 70kgs is not shabby on the bench either........
