I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Agree willie - respect for hitting the weights. That's the main thing. Numbers are meaningless - well, not quite, but you get my drift.

Thanks guys :D . I'm always a little wary of training whilst not feeling 100% because of the risk of injury, but on the other hand I don't like to miss workouts either. Bit of a balancing act!

Went to the gym this morning and had 25mins on a cross trainer. Then, because I didn't manage to do any last night, I did my dips.

Dips: 14,12,12

Holy Sh*t! Mind you, my neck/traps ache like a bastard now. I hope there's some gain at the end of this pain! 8)

Yes, there is - when you can do 15 in first set, you get to do them weighted. (which is more pain btw)

Hi Willie,

Hope your guts are back on track soon mate. I also wanted to stop by and thank you for pointing me in the right direction with my injury. After your suggestion I looked up sciatica and found some ways to diagnose it. I have come to the conclusion that it is in fact piriformis, which exhibits similar symptoms. I know how to treat it and it is getting better by the day. Your advice to rest it has made sure I didn't over do it at the gym this last week and that has helped a lot too.

Thanks again,
Mark.

Bit of a rush on on Thursday night so it was a slightly curtailed WO and I'm only just getting round to writing it up.

18/06/09 Workout B

Squat 110kgs 5,5,5
OHP 47.5kgs 5,5,5
DL 140kgs 1 x 3, 1 x 2 :?
Chins BW 9,7,5
PBs BW+5kgs 3 x 60secs

Squat: Good job it was a short workout 'cos 5 x 5 of these would have killed me! Not moving on for a while yet me thinks!

OHP: Same goes for these bastards :x , but I expect it from these.

DL: Jebus these was heavy man  , and I felt it a little in my back on rep 3 so I stopped. However, no way I was leaving it at that so I did 2 more reps and felt OK. Again, won't be moving on for a bit yet.

Chins: Not bad for these and did them nice and slow too. :D

PBs: Pretty good and not too much shaking. :)

Busy day today so I'm off to earn some dosh! 8)

Cool willie. Seems like you managed to tame your guts - or did you use white rubber?

Seriously though, good workout. Iswitched to weighted prone bridges this week. You workout alone, so how do you put the weight on your back? Do you use a backpack?

GKW-

High rep Dips can be a killer, be careful.

Nice to read you're back in control of the dark side of the force...

Which, looking at the lever it creates, diminishes the effect on your shoulder girdle.
Depends on what you want and where you want the weight to be.

If max weight needs to be around shoulder -> backpack with short straps might be better (mainly applicable for pushups, I would say)
if max weight needs to be around core area -> your approach, backpack with long straps will also work

But what when you move to 20kg plates ? Wear bigger shorts ?
