I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Yo H. No mate, and not for a few days. It was making me feel very sluggish, full all the time and it killed my appetite. However it mostly killed my bowels! :o It was like trying to shit a house brick through a garden hose! And that's with eating extra fibre to try and cope. Definitely not good. Now I'm off it again I'm feeling a bit better, and thanks to 3 x 5 (I think anyway), I seem to have a bit more energy for workouts.

hows the knee?

Hey FGNM. Good days and bad really mate. It doesn't give me any trouble when doing the workouts, but there are other times when it just aches all day. :| However, I do think that wearing the knee wraps helps with the workouts, thanks for putting me onto them :D .

Hey Neil. I'm OK mate, thanks for asking, I'll be catching up with your log (and everyone else's) today if possible.

Well things have not been all they could be lately. There's quite a big project on at work at the moment, and I'm pretty much working on it myself, which means I'm thinking about it all the time and it's having a very negative affect on my training. It's a bit of a vicious circle, the more I think about it (work) the less I sleep, the less I sleep the more tired I become, the more tired I am the less I eat, the less I eat the more I don't feel like training! :? I get home from work at night already feeling tired and I just can't be bothered. I know this is a shitty attitude but it is how I feel, and I'm sure when I can get a handle on the situation at work I will overcome it. I always have been a bit up and down with my moods anyway, and if you were to plot them on a graph it would probably look like a signwave :) . At the moment I'm a bit low with fretting about work, but hopefully I'll soon bounce back.

Hey Willie,
being someone who used to work 60+ hours a week myself some years ago, you really need to break this circle.
Plan time in your calendar to do the workout, maybe foresee some work to be done from home if possible afterwards (reading material ?)so you will not feel too guilty about it. But schedule it or it will not happen ...
Net result will be you will get more energy to get your actual work done.

Also, from a time management perspective, it is a lot easier to control work done by others then do it yourself (unless they really did a crappy job  ).
So ... DELEGATE ! Delegate to people who you know can do the job and set a reminder in your agenda to check with them on frequent times. It is only when I started doing this I saw my workload drop ... until my boss found out and then he started to shove even more my side

Thanks H. You are of course right, I do need to break the cycle. One of the problems is that I tend to do a lot of the stuff myself rather than let other people do it because I know it will get done right. Also, where I work I'm the 'go to guy', whenever anyone wants anything it's always me they come to. What I really need to do is try and pace myself a bit more and not try and do 6 things at once! Thanks for the advice pal :) .

Aye - I know what a bitch work can be for getting in the way of the training too. Last week I was in the office the whole time and get 65 miles of cycling and three good workouts in, then on friday afternoon I get a call to head to detroit again and this week I'll be doing nothing. When I'm working hard I do like training to take my mind off work, although with heavy weights I find it very very difficult to stay focused enough and keep the form good.

I also hate it when you can't trust other people to do a job properly, so you end up doing it all yourself. I'm not such a control freak anymore - I try to pick the things I REALLY care about and do them, then leave the rest of the stuff to other people. Hard to get the balance right though.

Good luck!
