I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Neil. Hadn't thought of myself as a control freak but I suppose I am! I also don't get summoned to Detroit very often so I guess I haven't got it quite as bad as you have dude! :D

The key is to identify what IS important and what is not.
That what is important, I will also keep closer in my control range. Or what may potentially cause the most havoc on the total project, another thing to watch (sorry, I am a project manager ...).

EDIT: Willie, if you want I can isolate these last posts in a separate thread so your log does not get too hijacked with this. Just shout.
But it is rather relevant to your case, so maybe best to leave it here.

hey willie, hope you can find more time for yourself soon. I'm with you with do stuff yourself if you want it done right mentality, it's hard to get rid of...

anyway, I spent some time in your area this weekend - shopping with the girl at Meadowhall. 9 hours of waiting, walking and looking at things
and then they didn't even have chalk at any of those sports stores. it's too specific, they say. bah.

Hey Willie dont get too worked up about it... I try to remember why and for whom your working so hard and you'll find your way through this eventually (especially with all the good advice above)... and being from Michigan and only two hours from Detroit I think i speak for most of the people in a 100 mile radius... We dont like going to Detroit either. Of 'course there is a nice power lifting gym near there...

@H. No problem mate, leave it in, as you say it is relevant.

@helm. Poor lad, you should have said where you were going, it's known as Meadow Hell round here! I'd rather do OHPs than shop there.

@FGNM. Thanks man, I'm sure I'll learn to cope a little better once the pressure has eased a bit.

One interesting observation. Since not training for over a week now (probably more like 2), my knee is feeling a lot better..... :?

Scrolling for two pages, looking for a workout to comment on. Nothing but a buncha chatter! ;)
Helm, have you tried rock climbing stores for chalk? Same stuff and you can get one of those little bags with a drawstring to hold it.
I bet you'll find cheap stuff on line.

yeah, willie, move your bum to the shed and squat! you need more numbers and less words in your log

but I think some days of rest will do your body good, especially the knee. let everything heal and come back even stronger than before!

@kib, chalk was the only thing I was looking for at that shopping place, but none of the 5 sports stores (out of a total of almost 300 stores) had any. found enough online, but the gym just doesn't allow it, so I'll go for your bicycle inner tube idea...

@helm. Thanks mate. To be honest, it's the knee that worries me the most. So far no heavy squats = no knee pain. :)

@Bflo. Cheers Bflo :D . I have no intention of giving up the weights man, but apart from all the crap I've got on at the moment with work etc., as I said to helm above, I've got virtually no problems with my knee at the moment. I know it's a bit OTT, but I don't want to risk screwing up my knee now with squatting, and then when I get older, having even more problems when it will be harder to cope. However, at some point in the (very) near future, I am going to get back to squats, but they may have to be lighter, maybe even front squats or box squats?
