Hi Stronglift community,

I've been browsing this board for a couple of weeks now, and it's been a great help to me in my research of nutrition and strength building.

I'm 6ft, 160lbs, looking to bulk up to around 185lbs, and be lean and clean, of course.

I haven't been in a gym for around 5 years, so i can't start the stronglifts program straight away, as my confidence with free weights is very low, so i'm getting myself used to exercising and using the machines at my gym, so i'm treating the first few weeks as a warm up to the real thing, which will be the stronglifts program!

I won't be posting any training logs until i start the stronglift program, obviously, but for the time being i'll probably be talking more about the nutrition side of things, as that side i'm really enjoying, and feeling so much better.

That's it, speak soon!

Welcome guymearns! That's a good target weight to aim for. Keep in mind you can weight more, so long as it's mostly muscle.

I'm 6'5" and was about 180 lbs when I started (now about 220 lbs). I didn't have any experience in a gym and hadn't done much of any physical activity in years (i.e. around 8-9 years). I understand what you mean about your confidence but it will improve quickly as you start lifting, as will the amount of weight you can lift. The amount newbies can lift goes up fast.

Check this out for a bit of my background to date. You might also want to check out KIB's log as he was once the same weight and is the same height. He's has some amazing gains.

Thanks, Bluestreak!

I'm treating 185lbs as my 'primary' goal, chances are i still may not be happy with that weight, as i see people changing their goals all the time on here, once they have achieved what they want.

I've read your background post, it's very inspiring, well done!, and it's reassuring to know that results can still come relatively quickly when you haven't had much experience.

I'm fully tracking everything i'm doing, with pictures also, as i would like to inspire other people too with my own progress and story!
