I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

You asked about how to eat tuna, i eat it several ways.

In a sandwich
Right out of the can plain, or with salt and pepper, or with something like steak spice sprinkled on it, or with a tablespoon or 2 with mayo
Tuna melts: mix with a tablespoon or 2 of mayo, put on bread, put 2 thin slices of cheese on top and cook in oven until cheese is melted
Go for the no name tuna if your on a tight budget. Here the popular brands cost 2.50 a can but the no name stuff only costs 1.00. It has a couple less grams of protein per can but its worth the savings

You can also try mixing it into a omelet. Or whatever get creative

Agreeing with the people above nuts are good. Peanuts are particularly cheap. I buy them in the bulk bins at my grocery store unsalted for 22 cents per 100g. Not exactly low fat but its good fat.

Always check the flyers of your local grocery stores. A good sale can turn a good source of protein that is usually too expensive into a really good deal. You can do this online these days for most stores.

I wonder if you are running out of fuel during the workout?
You eat very little carbohydrates, and this may cause you to deplete your muscle glycogen during your workout. Without enough glycogen your muscles will run out of fuel. Experiment with some carbos just before or during the workout. Energy gels are about US$ 1.25 each; fruit juice, or other quick sources of carbos may help.

Eat something at least an hour before hand, not these items as they are not the best nutritionally, normally full of high fructose corn syrup. They will just give you a short term sugar spike. Even plain fruit juice is not the best idea, better to eat the whole fruit than just drink the juice. Do NOT eat just before a workout or during - you really won't feel good after a few sets of heavy squats. The only thing you need during a workout is plain water.
