I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Help with Diet Timing

Ok guys, this will be my first post here but I wanted to ask about timing with regards to eating and my new time of my work-out.

Before my son was born I had a pretty good handle on my schedule.

I would eat at:

8 AM : Breakfast
11 AM : Snack
1-1:30 PM : Lunch
4 - 4:30 PM : Preworkout Meal
4:45 - 5:45 WORKOUT
6 PM : Post workout shake (Fast carbs and protein)
7 PM : Dinner
9-10 PM : Pre-Bed Snack (Casein Shake / cottage cheese)

Since my son has been born it has been almost a year since I have gone to the gym as I want to get home and spend time with him rather than getting home at 6 PM and only seeing him for 2 hours before he goes to bed 3 days out of the week.

I recently set up a home-gym above my garage which consists of a good bench, a squat rack and olympic barbell set and a friend of mine pointed me to your site. I started the workout but I just had some questions with my timing on meals specifically when it comes to my post-workout shake.

Schedule now is as follows:

8 AM : Breakfast
11 AM : Snack
1-1:30 PM : Lunch
4 - 4:30 PM : Protein Shake
6 - 6:30 PM : Dinner
8 PM WORKOUT
9 PM : Post-workout shake (fast carb typically gatorade, one scoop of whey and one scoop of casein)

My question is this...is there any concern with having the fast carbs so close to bed time? Granted this is only on training days.

Thanks!

The casein will probably slow down the digestion of everything thing else you are eating.

Good luck on your journey!
