I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hey,

My name is Ben and I'm from Australia. Just here because this seems like a good community to be a part of in regards to getting fit, healthy, and staying that way =) I'm hoping to give others support as well as document my own journey here with you guys :)

I'm 183cm, about 80kg, have a sit on my arse job (computer technician) and am just looking to be a bit healthier and lose the curves... I want that hot body you see in movies which makes our girlfriends salivate :P

I need to stop being lazy, get more exercise, and eat healthier. I originally started going to the gym last year for a few months, then stopped once i finished school. My strong point was (and still is) chest. I went from benching 35kg to 80kg, and from using 12.5kg dumbbells to 35kg dumbbells with chest press. I stopped going after i finished school because i got into a relationship. Being unhappy with my curves i starved myself, and eventually started going to the gym again, only to find that i was reduced to 17.5kg dumbbells (half what i was capable of before) and was very frustrated with myself. Originally it took me 3 months to get from 35/12.5 to 80/35 bench/chest press, it only took me a month to get back there the second time... i guess your body remembers? :)

35kg is the biggest dumbbells in the gym in my town, so I'm going to start building my own bigger ones since I've been doing 35kg ones for 3 or 4 months now. The reason i haven't increased weight is because some days i can do as little as 5 reps, some days up to 20... but I'm going to push myself and eat a lot better now.

As long as i can remember, I've never really been toned or had definition, even since my time at the gym... i get stronger, bigger, but not defined. So I'm going to eat healthier and try and do more cardio at the same time while posting my journey on the forums here. I'll be recording what and when i eat, and what exercise i get.. along with the weight my scales tell me each morning.

Regards, Ben

Hey Ben and everyone else, im Munnings and Im from Australia too.
i found this site when i was looking at Madcow's 5x5 by Bill Starr and he referenced this site. ive been reading the material Mehdi has posted and its helped a lot to stay motivated! ive converted to Mehdi's SL 5x5 program and i think its excellent. ive been going the gym for around 2 years now, but now im on SL i feel most of that time was wasted- i still made gains but i just think it wouldve been more effective if i went on SL 5x5 at the start.
im 18, weight around 75kg and 181cm.
i currently bench for 5x5 72.5 DL 80, SQ 80, OHP 45.
