I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I'm looking for a really good quality hiking boot, just curious if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Army boots.
After getting them to form up for your leg, they're pretty damn good for walking in rough terrain. In my experience they've been the best shoes for walking long distances. Never gotten a blister, and I was forced to walk 30+ km mostly in woods, with a rucksack weighing 42kg

Hi-Tech. Rock River. I dont know where you are ChazRage but in Australia these two are amongst the best. I could'nt afford the Hi-Techs at the time so I opted for the Rock Rivers. I walked the Kokoda Track In Papua New Guinea in 2006. This was a 96 km / 60 mile walk up and down some stupidly steep hills. It took us 7 days. And I certainly had no blisters to show for it. One word of advice I will pass on is what a veteran of the Kokoda track recommended I do. Prior to going on a huge walk (if thats what youre planning on doing) go for a 20km walk in those new boots of yours. That way if any 'waer points' for potential blisters show, then you will know where to tape up you feet. At the end of the day though I guess its why you need to boots. A big walk...or just daily hiking??

Best boots I ever owned, I bought used. Yup, previous owner had done the hard work breaking them in for me. Really bummed when they finally wore out. But that was in the bad old days when all boots were stiff leather.

This is a pretty good site for gear:

Depends if you want leather and are in the UK, but if you do and are, I cannot recommend these boots enough: http://www.brasher.co.uk/catalogue/prod ... -hillgtxmn - they are a bit expensive (£120) but my pair have lasted me 10 years plus now...

I just bought a pair last week, after recently doing a bit of research I recommend LL Bean Cresta's

I use blackhawk boots in the army. I was using our issued boots for about 3 years, now i'll never own anything but blackhawks!
