I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hitting the lower traps

This is for rehab/muscle activation purposes.

What exercises hit the lower traps more so than the upper traps?

The first exercise @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5-PLpC2Zlo seems good for warmup and muscle activation purposes, but what else is there?

Another one I found is http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/exercise ... shrugs.htm

I think I answered my own question, but if you have suggestions or comments, let me know. Thanks.

Almost any rowing exercise where you make sure you work the horizontal plane.
Barbell rows would be my favorite making sure my torso is almost parallel to the floor.
You can also do these lying on a bench with a cambered bar so it does not get too heavy on your lower back.

Pullups, while targetting primarily the lats, will also work the lower traps.

What exactly is the condition you're having ?
I prefer to be called 'H' ;)

I injured my traps and rotator cuff muscles, and during the 2nd session w/ my athletics physician, she told me that my lower traps aren't firing that well. She recommended I do something similar to the first exercise in the video while making sure to contract the lower part of the shoulder blades and had me do it at her office too. She also mentioned that wide-grip pull-ups would help if i made sure to arch my back a bit, make a big chest, and also contract my shoulder blades.

interesting-athletics-physician-visit-t19205.html <- that was my first visit with her.

The lower traps thing is kinda like a lot of ppl who can't contract their glutes easily.
