I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Googled deadlift - one of the links lead to Mehdi's article on deadlifts. Funny I still remember it correctly. Browsed through a few articles & became a member after some time.

At that time I was doing a typical BB routine that my gym had given me & did that for some more time. Then I had a shoulder injury. Following doctor's advice I rested for 4 weeks. During that period I read a lot of the forum posts & became convinced that this is what I should be doing. Back from rehab, started right away with SL 5x5.

I stayed because of the forum - Mehdi's determination to keep it free of BS, the moderators (at that time it was only mjh) and most important - the members. People here are just great. In short, the forum ROCKS.

I have now become addicted to this forum. I have made it a homepage both on my work & home.

I have been lifting for years on & off with no reason or purpose behind it.I just liked lifting. On september 08 about 3-4am,frustration set in.I asked my self am i strong? I answered no.I just looked pumped or inflated.Wasted lots of money on supplements, read muscle mags, depended on supplements to do the job for me.I hated the fact i looked the way i looked and not be strong.I wanted to be strong.I almost gave up on iron.I decided to look up strenght training on the internet.I googled strenght training and went to a few sites then i came across stronglifts. My life changed.I could not stop reading it.I tried to read everything on here, brain almost fried. This site was so well put together, everything was simple, straight to the point, easy to understand.Thank you Mehdi.I now had a purpose for the iron, its called strenght training. Oh yeah,i got rid of of muscle mags & supplements.Got practical progamming for strenght training, helped me more than any muscle mag.6 months doing strenght training and i am so much stronger then i ever was and still making gains!Thank you again Mehdi and everybody on this forum.I am a different person now,i have a purpose for everything i do.Thank you.

I was looking for something new. I saw a 5by 5 with kettle bells but liked this program better.

Similar to the person above I googled squat and presto! To be open-minded and not use supplements spoke to me and I kept on reading. The wealth of information with great advice and tips, aswell as some of the testaments of some of the users made me bookmark the page.

The steady increase in weight of exercises and the overall program of targeting various muscles at once was exactly the kind of program that i wanted (and needed) to become stronger.

The site was advised on 4chan /fit/. At first, I was just checking the proper techniques, then I found the 5x5 program. I've been working out for a year now, but I've recently realized I did it all wrong, lotsa isolated exercises and too much workout day a week. So tomorrow I start the 5x5 :) This workout plan looks like fun, I like the idea of just doing the basic exercises.

I found stronglifts.com when I was searching for a way to get into pure strength training. I had started a weight program about a year and a half ago, but tapered off as school and work became more intense. After resuming training in September, I had been doing fine for several months, but wanted to spend fewer days at the gym and circumvent plateaus. I came across this plan, liked the straightforward approach, and I've been doing that for almost three months now. I've put on about 10 pounds, and people who hadn't seen me in sometime remarked that it looked like I had been putting in some serious gym time. :-) I would have never thought to do squats three times a week, but it has paid off in spades. I'm sticking with this program because the results don't lie. I'm stronger, my lifts are consistently rising, and in three months, I've only just stalled on overhead press, and I got my 5x5 the next time I lifted. Thanks, Mehdi, for a great program. It ain't pretty, just effective.

I was lifting ( bb) for several years and i must admit that i was quite strong for a bbuilder. Then one day after squating Ive experienced a terible pain in my back, my knees where cracking and hurting for a long time. I searched youtube for squating technics videos and somehow I got linked to 5X5. I was excited by the definitions and I was convinced that this was the right way to lift after all. I still bellieve it is. Im in the third circle of 5X5 advanced and really happy that I keep a log and I have a goal and all this for the moment injury free.
I wish to thank the people responsible for the site, youve done a great job and most of all is bullshit proof!!!!!!
