I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Just got here, but I found several recommendations on various martial arts sites for overall strength training. A writeup on Bullshido is what finally got me click the link.

Can't say I remember what brought me to this site - no doubt some meandering path along the interweb. You know, search for one thing and find another by the time you're done.

Anyway, I'm impressed with the information here and how it's laid out. Medhi has done a great job of making it simple for beginners and has done a great service by sharing his experience and knowledge. I had been trying other workout routines but none of them fit my schedule, I was unsure if I was doing things right, and I wasn't seeing results.

Stronglifts 5x5 gave me a plan, proper goals, information to support it and judging by the forum posts it was a proven system. Once I tried it out to prove it to myself I knew this was it. I saw immediate results and for the first time in a while I was actually looking forward to hitting the gym. I'll be sticking around for a while. :D

Thanks Medhi! Keep it up.

I have been getting the majority of my carbs from hopps for about the last ten years..I was in the grocery isle holding a pineapple and was getting really tired.Holding up the pineaple was sapping all of my strength..Even after switching hands.I noticed that there were about 13 people in front of me so that pineaple ended up on the floor after I tried to gut it out..After that I was like"man..jason you cant live like this.." So I typed in strenght training,or how to build muscle, and came across this site..I think it was more about not what to do,and not what to believe articles that really caught my eye.I have been off the sauce for three months.Im coming into my 90 day of 5x5 and geting five pounds stronger every time I hit the gym..I think it was just the simple, shoot from the hip style of the articles..Simple,consice,logical,and motivating in a way that I have never seen..Man im glad it was pineapple season..

Congrats man. I've been sober going on 14 months. I love lifting and eating clean. People say milk is my new vice, it's true.

I found Strong lift by searching for a strength/powerlifting workout. I've stayed because the workout is quick, down and dirty and the gains are outstanding. My only problem is that after the deadlift workout day I'm wiped and it seems I need to take a few extra days off. Which of course takes the days in the gym down from 3 to 2. However when I'm back in the gym I'm stronger from the extra day off. I do have a question, how long should I continue doing the beginner 5x5 before making a change of some sort? While I'm still making good and steady gains it's getting to be mentally tiring.

Referred by my friend who's studying in Tufts University. The same guy introduced me to kettlebells, and all of the other leading fitness trends in the United States.

I'd like to say that stronglifts.com has got to be one of the best websites I've seen so far. I know for a fact that the information here comes from a hardcore, experienced weightlifter, and this is what gets me sold on the site.

There are a lot of posers on the internet advocating "frou frou fitness" techniques. I only wish I found this website sooner.

AND YEAH, I'M STILL WORKING ON MY SQUAT HAHAHA

Hi,
A good friend of mine (JCedolia) turned me on to it about a month ago. I was looking for a free weight routine as I had never had one in my life and needed strengthen to keep up with my kids and tone to get rid of my gut. I started three weeks ago and and have already seen results -barely two 1st set chinups when I began to 10+ now. This week I started adding cardio at the end to hopefully burn away some more belly.
