I think I found StrongLifts mentioned on the rosstraining dot com site. I read a lot of the articles published here and I thought the approach to strength training that was promoted here was great.

After I read Starting Strength, I decided to try to gain some weight (I was less than 150 pounds). So I made the decision to start eating more and to start lifting. I've been doing StrongLifts beginners' for more than a month now and I am very happy with the progress I'm making.

I stay because it's great to have a program to follow that works and keeps me motivated to get stronger!

someone linked to one of the articles from another forum, and I spent the last 2 weeks clicking around. I don't even remember where I started.

It really is addictive how each article links to more informative articles. Everything is explained well, with pictures and videos. I've improved my form on overhead press, and showed several friends the "10 foods you think are healthy but aren't."

Thanks for this amazing website.

I was surfing the internet looking for a 5x5 program that I liked since I realized that I am a beginner and I stumbled across stronglifts. I plan on using the beginner 5x5 so I stayed to learn as much as i could.

Followed a link from Instapundit.com where the book Starting Strength was mentioned:

http://www.pajamasmedia.com/instapundit ... 023052.php

followed link to Crossfit, then somehow happened upon this site. Think I was trying to find out what a "Power Clean" was.

Started doing squats a week ago after seeing this site. Videos and discussion of proper technique were a great help. I immediatly could tell the difference from the way I had been doing this excercise (the wrong way), and the StrongLifts way. Much more comfortable on the back, and I feel I've gained also gained some balance in additon to strength. Didn't realize how much the weight machines were cheating me out of the fine muscle control helps with balance.

Thanks for your contribution to fitness knowledge and for maintianing this site.

I found a link to the site over on Bodybuilding.com, when I first wanted to get into lifting. Needless to say there were a lot of 'WTF, where are the bicep curls?' type comments.

StrongLifts was recommended to me by a friend of mine. He, and myself, were originally interested in bodybuilding(though not of the competitive priority), but both of us were turned off by ridiculous commercial programs and gyms full of people who didn't know what they were doing. I don't know how he discovered the site, but he told me to check it out, leading me to the home page which had an article on the amazing Ivan Stoitsov.

After that, it was love, pure love. Bodybuilding had been pissing me off a while prior to being introduced to this site(Note: Mainly due to steroid usage, and simply poor role-models), but ever since my true interests(which have always revolved around strength, overall health, and nutrition) were greatly excited by powerlifting. I soon bought Lon Kilgore and Mark Rippetoe's books, "Starting Strength" and "Practical Programming," both amazing and easily among the best ever written on the subject. StrongLifts, in fact, is a slight alteration of the core principles of Mark Rippetoe's beginner workout outlined in Starting Strength. I'm so happy Medhi brought the program out into more accessible light.

Also, anyone one the fence about buying those two books... It's $50 total for both of them on Amazon. Consider it the cheapest insurance you've ever purchased, and writing that will inspire you to improve your technique, always.

Great forum, too. Thanks, Medhi. And hello, everyone! So ends my first post here.

I had been doing New Rules of Lifting, and it was going ok, I liked it, but some of the high rep stuff was getting boring. Then a guy named Brian posted on the NROL forum that he was ditching NROL for Starting Strength/5x5. I looked into and haven't looked back. Good stuff.,

I think I googled "getting strong" or something like that. There's obviously a lot of BS when talking about fitness. This site seemed to be stripped of all that and pretty no nonsense. I found that very appealing.

Good question... I googled for Anabolic Diet and found out Mehdi.

From there, I downloaded his bo0k Stronglifts 5X5 and got directed to the forum from one of his links. I liked the way site was having high quality content without pushing for credit cards...

Myself and some friends had been working out for about 4 months and were hitting plateaus. I got on the internet looking for a system to go by instead of seat of the pance exercises and googled "building muscle" and came across this site and thought I would give it a try. Just got into it so no opinions as of yet.

Started doing research in trying to find the perfect work-out program to fit me. I was doing a lot of web surfing and found this site through another site....but do not remember which one because I have found all the information I need right here in these walls.

This is a great site full of information and some fairly knowledgeable people from around the globe who are after the same thing as you and I.
