I was discussing weight training with a user on reddit.com one night, and he mentioned this site. I checked it out and like what I saw. I've been on version 3 of SL5x5 for eight weeks now. My weight has gone up a couple of pounds, but my body fat has dropped a couple of percent. So far, I've followed the program to the letter--starting with an empty bar, etc. The OH Press (actually Seated Press for me--my ceiling is too low for a standing OH Press) is real close to a stall now. My left shoulder and right knee are a little more sore after each workout, but I'm working through it. At 52, I expect slow recovery. I just got Venuto's "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" through a link here and it's an excellent program. I fully expect to achieve my goals with the combination of that eating plan and Mehdi's SL5x5 workout plan.

Found this site through a friend, but I don't know how he found it. Using the program is the best decision ever. I'm still only at 1.2xbw squat and 1.5xbw DL, but I would never have thought I could lift that much in a relatively short span of time. Why'd I stick to it? Because BEING stronger is way cooler just LOOKING stronger :)

I found this site through a search for a better strength training program than the one that I was using. I decided to stay because this program kicks ass!

I was on T-nation.com and someone mentioned the stronglifts 5x5 as a good beginner program. This person had outstanding numbers for his lifts. I respected his opinion.

I checked it out and it was right up my alley. I had been doing rippetoe's workout for a month, so this type of program made sense to me.

The "How To Overhead Press" article was perfect and I have browsing ever since.

A friend of mine recommended the program for me, and I took a look at it, and became amazed by its simplicity and effectiveness.
I'm a big fan of progressive loading and good technique, and then stronglifts is the perfect program for me. I've been on the program for 4 weeks and haven't looked back yet.

Hi
I was googling bench press technique for a Personal Training exam I have coming up next Friday.
I couldn't believe the amount of information I found on this site. Awesome. Can't wait until I have loads more time to have a real look around the site and read more posts.
I will be staying and gaining lots of info for starting my PT business next year!!
I have already downloaded all the freebies and can't wait to get all the info and put it all into practice.

After looking at websites of Mike Geary and Vince DelMonte who also advocate compound full body exercises and building strength, I wanted to find out the proper technique for Deadlifts and Squats so that I didn't hurt myself and arrived here.
I originally had a workout with 8 different exercises (Chin Ups, Pull Ups, Squats, Deadlifts, OH Presses, Bench Presses, Rows and Reverse Crunches) doing them 3 x 10, and increasing the weight every time I went to the gym. They also advocate only 3 visits to the gym per week, but now I'm reading about 5 x 5... still trying to make up my mind.

I was introduced by a user from another fitness forum. I find this place great, people are nice here. And this site is just so informative, let alone the free e-book.

I was doing research on resistance training on the Internet. Then I found this site and after reading a lot of it I decided it was a no non-sense site with real good info. I have been doing resistance training on and off all my life. Information and equipment were hard to come by, but I made some progress over time. Only at 42 armed with better info some extra $, new simple equipment and some experimentation, I made a major change to my physical appearance in about 9 months time. I have held and maintain my physique until now, and now I'm ready to do some more serious work. Mehdi you have a great site and I congratulate you.
I forgot to tell you I'm 55 now, but my friends and family tell me I look 45. Resistance training works!

I don't know how I found stronglifts...magic?

But, I stayed because:
-I like the feeling of "raw power " to it. Ya know, work hard and natural, eat lots and natural. Not like the creating poppin', "Ice cut super scult mega protein super shake blend super 7-day 14 workout hyper split" crap you might see around.
-The site was good, and well maintained.
and once I tried it, I found that I didnt get nearly as bored working out as I used to before.

And now after my second month of it (first month was months ago, had to stop for personal reasons) I see a noticible difference in weight, look and strength.

Hello all!

A little about me, I'm 22, from Colorado, in school for Computer information systems, love sports, especially HOCKEY, and I'm tiny lol (I'm 5' tall).

Well, I found stronglifts when I was googling some strength training routines, tips, ideas, etc and came across the site. I've always been into weight lifting since high school and I've been doing it on and off through the years. I finally decided that I want to be strong, I hate being little and having everyone assume I can't lift anything for myself or that I can't be any help when moving furniture and such. It makes me feel helpless. Anyway, so I found this site and got the eBook and also looked up dumbbell routines 'cause that's all I have right now and can't afford a membership and loved what I found. I really liked the eBook and I can't wait to start on that when I get some barbells.

So needless to say, I stayed because I liked what I saw. It got me all excited for working out again. Can't wait to make friends here!
