I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

how many of you wear lifting gloves?..

the last couple of weeks i have been getting sort of blisters under my fingers from gripping the bar on deadlifts and other exercises.. this wasn't a problem at first but now its affecting my ability to do pullups after deads, hurts to much to even do 3 when i should be doing like 13..
i feel like i have been seriously missing out on the benefits of pull ups and chin ups since i have been missing them for 2 weeks now.
my question is it worth buying some lifting gloves, or should i stop being a pussy and man up..let them harden or something lol?.. not sure how long that would take..

I'd check and make sure you're gripping the bar correctly. If you hold the bar too close to your palm in the deadlift, it'll tend to slide down your fingers during the lift and really tear things up. You want to hold the bar in the position it would ultimately slide to during the lift. The bar is in a different part of your hands than it would be for, say, the bench or ohp.

See this.

Stop being a pussy and man up. :)

J/k. But seriously, even if grip is perfect, in my experience you'll still get calluses. They'll get less painful, but they're still there. Chalk helps though.
To anwer the thread's title: I doubt any that'll openly share that information. Most people frown on them as much as on the sissy pad.

Also I'd like to add that calluses are manly as hell. I take pride in mine.

^^^ This.

Follow muddy's advice. And don't let the callouses get too big. I shave mine down occasionally with a pumice stone (of course, you get more man points if you shave them down with a hunting knife) - this prevents them from ripping off.

Went to the gym Monday and somebody had left two blocks of chalk in a bucket. Never used it before. Tried some out, and HOT DAYUM!

I had no idea what a difference that made or what I was missing!

Chalk is the way forward for deadlifts, pull ups or anything involving grip. I do about 70 pull ups a day, so I need it otherwise I'd be incapable of using my hands.

Yeah and don't be lazy with this, if you do build big callouses and do this you can rip your hand open like i did deadlifting lol. If you shave them down you will keep the tough skin which is very useful but it doesnt cause a problem. I think the beastskills website has a tutorial for doing this.

I rip a paper towel and put some paper just where I get the most callous, before doing the pullups, since that's the only excercise that give me bad callous.

I wear gloves on and off. They are working gloves, as in construction gloves and they feel good. If the bar slips too much on the Deads, try mixed grip and get the bar closer to the fingers.
Also, you can tape the base of the fingers evrytime you go to the gym, that helps too.
As for the calluses that you will get whether you use anything or not, I just grab some 80 grit sand paper and give them some TLC. It works great!
I know you really, really want it Nefesh, but is not in anyone's best interest. Not even yours
