I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

$25/mo for a one club 24 hr fitness in Berkeley, California. But this is my last month of paying it. I've got my bar, plates and bench, and a rack on order. I'm building a lifting platform in my new garage (just moved to a place with enough space) this weekend. The rack should arrive sometime in January, so I've already terminated the gym membership for Feb 1.

Gym memberships over here are a joke. I pay about £32 a month, that's $47. Some charge up to £45/$66 a month.

Seems like most gyms charge between $15-20 NZD per week down here. I think my gym and others like it try to charge twice that amount but it has everything (creche, classes, etc).

Down here you can transfer your gym contract to another person, which is a cheap option as you avoid the up front fee and can pay the low rates people got years ago.

Yeah, I was paying £36. I've cancelled it now and ordered some equipment to start from home.

My local gym is £3 per session, with the option to pay £24 monthly subscription. They discount further for annual payments.

There is no creche, no classes, just sunbeds, cardio stuff, machines and iron.

$25 per month for LA Fitness. Includes large weight area, lots of machines, raquetball courts, basketball court, pool, large aerobics/cycling room with free classes, sauana, steam room, kid's Klub, etc.

Fee never increases either. I've paid the same since 1999. Meet an old guy that was paying $7 per month. Thought that was a great deal until a woman at work told me she bought a family membership when she was 17 (she's now about 35), and pays $99 a year for 4 people!

24 Hour Fitness just put up a monster sized club down the street they need to fill. Memberships are going for $29.99 per month.

I was going to do the same, but space is the issue. If it was my house, I'd probably have cleared out the garage and bought a power-rack, but seeing as I live with my parents-not my decision.

First gym: 25€/month, then 30€/month (this was from 1999 to 2003 something)
2nd gym in 2004: 40€/month

Average price over here is 40€/month now, some gyms easily ask 50€/month and more.

$42 CAD - student fee. it's regular $48. it is a lot more expensive than their old prices, but they built a really nice, state of the art facility with a pool, saunas, 2 floors, like a 50 flat screen tvs, etc. imo still too much , but it's a nice place.

Gyms here charge anything from about $20 to $40 /month. I am currently paying about $25/ month for an year membership which expires in June.

Would love to have a home gym, but space is a big issue right now.
