So I just started Stronglifts 5x5 last week. I found out about it during the summer and I knew it was something I wanted to try once I got back to school. I'm living in an apartment this year instead of a dorm so I have control over what I eat. The only major factor so far has been money. At the moment don't have enough cash for whey. I have been trying to eat every three hours though. I'm 5'11" and around 130lbs, pretty skinny. I don't want to gain a lot of weight. I like my smallish figure, I'd just like to be more fit/tone/stronger. I'm not trying to be 170lbs or anything. Ideally I'd like to be closer to 140 or 150. Don't hate on me for this!
breakfast around 8am: bowl of special k strawberries with whole milk, 1 banana, glass of orange juice or water.
I know this isn't the best I can do. I'm not terrible partial to eggs either. What else should I add on here?
I have class from 9 to 12 so I can't eat at 11 like I would like to. This is a real pain because around 11 my stomach is grumbling and begging for food.
lunch around 12: small chicken breast sandwich (white bread) with a few pieces of lettuce and a tiny bit of bbq sauce for flavor. 1 banana or 1 apple, serving of mixed nuts, glass of whole milk or water.
snack around 3: usually either fruit (banana or apple), cup of whole milk, serving of mixed nuts OR a can of tuna on 2 slices of white bread and a banana with whole milk.
dinner around 6:30 or 7: pretty much the same thing as lunch. small chicken breast sandwich OR small chicken breast with spaghetti and tomato sauce, banana, whole milk or water. sometimes yogurt (yoplait) after as a dessert. I need to get some real yogurt instead of this sugary junk.
snack around 9 or 10: banana/apple, mixed nuts. Maybe a yogurt. water.
My post-workout meal is usually another chicken breast sandwich (Can you tell this is all I eat?) with whole milk & maybe some nuts.
I go to sleep around midnight.
So tell me, Stronglifts community, what can I do to improve this diet? Keep in mind I am fairly strapped on cash (starving college student, what can I say?).
