I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Here is the link I want to embed:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yha2XAc2qu8

See the numbers after the = sign?

yha2XAc2qu8

I now copy those into this:

I now end up with this:

Perfect! Thanks, I was kind of lost for a few minutes while uploading some videos.

Hmmm ... I can view YouTube videos normally with no problems and when they are embedded in blogs; but not when they are embedded in posts in this forum. All I see in the explanatory post above is a big square outline with a tiny fixed icon in the top-left corner of it. What could I be doing wrong?

N.B. Before you answer this, please bear in mind, from the Forum Guidelines, the one that says:

People often struggle with things that are completely obvious to you.

Thanks Luco. In fact this corrected itself about two or three weeks ago. I should have posted. Haven't changed any settings and my feeling was that it might have been a 'feature' that crept into a version of Flash that I had. This was the only site that gave problems with embedded YouTube videos. A blog I have on my own site, for example, was not affected.

Reading the info just now on the link you provided, makes me think that Flash was indeed the most likely culprit. Thanks. Perhaps you or one of the other moderators could delete the posts about this, since it appears no-one else was affected.

Incidentally, I PMed Mehdi asking about this, but he didn't even reply. Is this a normal response from him?

I should've checked the post date :).

I'll leave that to Mehdi to answer, but forum policy is not to delete posts unless necessary (e.g. trolling, harrassing, sexist, racist, etc.). They're not in the way and someone might find the info useful.
