I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Howdy and question

Hello,

I am a Taiji player who has done most of my strength work in kettlebells (soft style) and the time has come for me to put some serious energy into building my raw strength. It is my goal to mix the 5x5 system with kettlebells. Ideally doing the 5x5 set followed by a 4-10 min set of snatches and/or jerks. Does anyone have any advice on how to balance these excersises to the most benefit? Or ways to avoid overtraining?

Peace,

Shawn

Hello and welcome :)

Maybe best to do those exercises after the regular SL5x5-sessions so you got enough time to recover.
Once you notice your recovery is being negatively impacted from the kettlebell work, consider to scale down for a while.

Thanks for the response. Do you mean like do the 5x5 in the morning and kb's in the evening? Or just make sure and get some rest in between?
Also, I am planning on keeping the kb weight low and focusing on endurance, instead of jogging, etc. I wasn't sure if that made a difference.

Thanks,

Shawn

5x5 and the kettlebells straight after ;)
A split AM/PM might maybe work better.
Low weights and focusing on endurance is a perfect replacement for cardio.

Just make sure there is plenty of rest in between two SL workouts ;)
