I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I've had really great success with this... (GOMAD)

I started the whole milk thing about 2 months ago, actually it will be two months tomorrow. I drink about half a gallon of milk a day usually with protien powder, I realize more milk is an option, but due to time constraints I need to eat and drink a lot of my meals on the go. I've been skinny all of my life, I was 90 pounds when I started highschool, I was 135 when I graduated. My previous attempt to gain weight brought me up to 170, but I stopped eating and dropped back to 160, when I started taking Krav Maga, I dropped even further down to 150. I was in great shape durring Krav, but at 6' tall I could turn sideways and disappear.

Typically I was eating twice a day, I woke up every morning at 5, and I didn't eat till 11:30 a.m. My second meal was before class, usually around 6 p.m. Durring those 2 meals I was eating a lot, but typically I was still eating less than 2000 calories a day... ive heard that could be considered near starvation. I really thought for a long time that I was a "hardgainer" but the truth was that I just wasn't eating.

I am 27 currently. When I started working out 2 months ago I weighed 160 pounds, I am now up to 190 pounds and still growing. I do the stronglifts workout 3 times a week, and I just eat as much as possible. Working out wasn't the biggest challenge for me, it was training myself to eat, getting beyond that full feeling, and ignoring the desire to not eat or skip a meal because it wasn't "conveniant".

Typically on a workout day
6 a.m. - 1/4 gal milk + protien
9 a.m. - Lots of Fruit and nuts
12 p.m. - Lunch - anything I want
3 p.m. - Workout
post workout - 1/4 gal milk + Protien
6 p.m. - Class
8 p.m. Dinner - Anything I want

This usually nets me 4 to 5 thousand calories a day.

It isn't always the healthiest diet, but due to habbits I picked up from my mother I don't like sweets, fast food, and other things generally considered unhealthy. The hardest part of my diet to give up was diet coke. But I dropped it cold turkey and now only drink Milk, Water, and occasionally fruit juice.

Body fat wise, I don't know how to measure percentages, I can still see my upper abdominals (barely), but ive developed a bit of pudge down toward the lower part of my stomach, around the belly button. Though my girlfriend says that I am insane and that I am the only one who can see it. I guess we are our own worst critics. Honestly though, I like it, it is genuinely a good feeling to not see my ribs poking out. I feel healthy.

Current weight I am lifting after 2 months: Squat: 190 lbs 5x5 (lower back injury slowed me down) Deadlift: 205 lbs 5x5, Bench: 150 lbs 5x5, Bent over Rows 150 lbs 5x5, Shoulder Press: 115 lbs 5x5.

I wanted to post my thanks to Mehdi for the great site and all the wonderful information he has provided, and also to the stronglifts community for the valuable information they've provided me through their experiences and questions on the forums.

Great job. Pics would be great! If you're on the go a lot, milk *should* be easier (thermos) than solid food (needs to be warmed up).

You've made great progress tblackwell. Well done. If I manage to gain what you have I'll be very pleased.

Just wanna say that you have made amazing progress and have basically met the results I wanna gain. I'd be happy getting half the results you've gotten as im taking the same approach as you, which is as simply as lifting/eating everything I can get my hands on

To see what you've done in two months amazes and inspires me, especially since I'm currently near enough exactly the same weight and body-fat that you started at. People who are scared of drinking whole milk should take a good look at this. I'd definitely follow your training log.
