I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

This one is from Jason Becker. At the time he is speaking about, he had already been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrigs Disease, but was not full paralyzed yet.

"One night I dreamed I was running. When I woke up I forgot I had a limp, so I walked totally normal until I remembered, "Oh, yeah, I have a limp". Then I immediately stumbled. That showed me that if you have control over your mind, you can do anything."

Don't ask for a light load, but rather ask for a strong back.

Just because you make a mistake doesn’t mean you are a mistake.

I am the inferior of any man whose rights I trample under foot.  Men are not superior by reason of the accidents of race or color.  They are superior who have the best heart – the best brain.

Inspiring Quotes

Postby Jim Slade » Thu Feb 28, 2008 11:51 am

"Weakness is a crime"  Bennar McFadden.
"there is no point in being alive if you cannot do the deadlift" Jon Pall Sigmarsson
That last one is written over my deadlift platform. It's very inspiring, even when you remember he died just after deadlifting. What a way to go, cowboys might want to die with their boots on but i'll go with a bar in my hands.
Male 37 - 5'9" - 240lb.
Deadlift 600+
Squat 500+
Pess 315
Bench 450+
these numbers will go up (except the bench....bloody shoulder joint)
"What is the point in being alive if you cannot do the deadlift?" - Jon Pall Sigmarsson.

Inspiring Quotes

Postby Mehdi » Thu Feb 28, 2008 12:03 pm

"We have not spent the last 65 million or so years finely honing our physiology to watch Oprah. Like it or not, we are the product of a very long process of adaptation to a harsh physical existence, and the past couple centuries of comparative ease and plenty are not enough time to change our genome. We humans are at our best when our existence mirrors, or at least simulates, the one we are still genetically adapted to live. And that is the purpose of exercise.”  Mark Rippetoe

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility. - Kahlil Gibran

"It's better to regret doing something than to regret not doing it" again I'm not sure who said this, it was either, Denzel Washington, Wesley Snipes or Morgan Freeman, hmm, thinking about it now I think it was Morgan.
