I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

That's what I love about Chins I've been doing them for years myself and every time I do them there just as hard as you say.

Chins mostly, although I like to do them with a neutral (palms facing in) grip too.
Male 37 - 5'9" - 240lb.
Deadlift 600+
Squat 500+
Pess 315
Bench 450+
these numbers will go up (except the bench....bloody shoulder joint)

Monday 17/08/09
Bike - 15mins of sweaty misery
Deadlift assistance stuff...
T-Bar
1*45/10/10
2*45/10/10
3*45/10/10
4*45/10
5*45/8
Dumbell Row
80/10
100/10
115/10
140/8
180/6/6 (a bit rough and I used straps)
Pullthroughs
150/10/10/10/10

I'm making it up as I go along at the minute, after the bad back and the month off, hopefully I'll have a plan soon though.

The plan has to include cardio, or at least bigger trousers I just can't decide which is more trouble.

Tuesday 18/08/09
Bike - 15 mins (I really don't enjoy this)
Incline Bench (high incline 45 degrees)
135/10/10/10
220/8/15
315/1/1/1/1
Dumbell Rows
140/5/5/5/5
120/10/12/12/10

I wanted to do the dumbell rows again today as I was experimenting with a new bench to lean on, and it worked much better than yesterday.
Incline bench was a bit of a struggle at first as I normally don't go above 30 degrees incline. I got a bit carried away at 220 and did 15 reps. Which was pretty much the end of benching, 315 felt tough after that, I had planned to go up to 350, but I'll know next time.
Male 37 - 5'9" - 240lb.
Deadlift 600+
Squat 500+
Pess 315
Bench 450+
these numbers will go up (except the bench....bloody shoulder joint)

Monday 24/08/09
Bench (incline 30 deg.)
132/10/10/10
220/8/10
315/2/2/2/1
Dumbell Fly (incline 30 deg.)
70/8/8
96/8/8
115/5/5/5

Bench was difficult, left shoulder felt stiff, and I struggled to find the right groove for some reason.

Tuesday 25/08/09
(upper back assist)
Halting Deadlift (from top)
154/15/10
242/10
330/10
418/10
506/5/5
Dumbell Rows (single arm)
115/10/10/10/10/10
Cable Row (upright)
100/50

Seems the back has healed nicely, halting deads from the top felt good, really able to concentrate on the trap/lat connection. Next time it'll be halting from the bottom up.
Male 37 - 5'9" - 240lb.
Deadlift 600+
Squat 500+
Pess 315
Bench 450+
these numbers will go up (except the bench....bloody shoulder joint)

Thursday 27/08/09
Squat
132/10
220/10
315/5
405/1
440/1
485/1/1/1
Pullthroughs
150lb/20/20/20

Short workout today, I've been cutting down on food intake this week, also I'm off the beer so I'm feeling a bit weaker than usual.

Where has our Jim gone?

First cardio, then no 'breakfast sarnies' washed down with a pint

Sadly I feel I need to embark on this fiasco as well

 I'm with Mouse. What happened to our Jim?

Mouse, we must stage an intervention. We can't have Jim dieting, doing cardio and forgoing beer. The world just wouldn't be right.

I'm sorry about the lack of excess this week, I had a bit of a mad weekend, out Friday, many many beers. Saturday had friends round for my famous "10lb lasagne" and many more beers. Sunday I went to my Gran's 90th birthday party where I had more beer, lots of rum and ate most of a pig they roasted on a spit.
I had to put up with my mother worrying about my pork consumption and alcohol stuffed liver all afternoon, after my uncle turned up showing off his latest by-pass scar. Hence the diet/no booze, don't worry though I'm having a really bad time :(

I have decided to give up the cardio though it's just crap, I'm going to do a day of 20 reppers squat and deadlift at 150% of BW once per week - kill or cure.
Cheers FatGyNoMore,
I just found out about triglycerides leaking into the blood from excess BF which is a bit scary.

Cheers I'm hoping this winter I can really push the numbers up, I've had a bad year so far with my training, I've had to switch gyms twice and lost my training partner to bodybuilding and had too many injuries. Time to focus on some lifting some big weights now.
