I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. I posted a form check from the 100kg squat session and found I need to do a bit of work before trying to continue. I had some depth issues that need to be ironed out before proceeding, so I'm going to drop to 85kg today and work on it. So inspect, looks like it'll be a race from now on ;)

I'm right behind you (85 kg squat) and will follow your training. Keep up the good work!

Tuesday 11/17/09

So I made a discovery today - the large collars I have been using in place of 1.25kg weights are actually about 2.5kg in weight. So this effects every lift I've ever done using these collars... Mostly OHP and deadlift though. Didn't discover this until the end of the workout, unfortunately, so I didn't deload my OHP quite enough. Weights from row on will be correct

Squat: 85kgx5,5,5,5,5
Sucks to have to deload this much, but you do what you have to. No point in moving past 100kg if I'm not quite getting the depth. Pretty sure I got it today though. It was harder than it should have been, but I only slept 5 hours last night so I'm not too surprised. Hopefully working back to 100kg within the next couple weeks. Posting video later.

OHP: 45kgx5,5,5,5,5
Got the reps but should have deloaded more I think. Also good to note - all these times I've been stalling at 47.5kg has actually been at 50kg due to the collars... so I've never actually attempted 47.5kg

Deadlift: 115kgx5
Got video of this as well. I think they're looking better.

Pull-ups: 8,6,6 PR!
Most pull-ups I've ever done in 1 set, and 1st time getting 20 pull-ups in 3 sets. Nice to accomplish.

Prone Bridge: BW+feet elevated x30s,30s,30s
I think it's time to go back to weighted bridges. I've mentioned it a few times, but next time will be the switch.

Nice lifts jfh, impressive that you've been so consistent while living abroad (and taking classes I assume?). Looking forward to following your progress.

Thursday 11/19/09

Squat: 90kgx5,5,5,5,5
Decided to give it a go at 90kg today. Had a little forward lean on a few reps but I got the depth today. I'll stick with 90kg again next time and video to make sure.

Bench: 82.5kgx5,5,5,4,5
SHIT. I'm so pissed I missed this rep. If I'd had a spot I would have gone for it. That would have been a PR too. It still kind of is, but not for 5x5. I'm sure I'll get it next time though. Almost to BW bench for 5x5!

BB Row: 45kgx5,5,5,5,5 PR!
Not an especially exciting PR, as they are every time on BB row at this point, but a PR nonetheless. Will do one more session with a 5kg jump, then switch to 2.5kg jumps at 50kg. That puts me on track for my goal of 60kg by year's end.

Dips: BW+15kgx5,5,5
Getting into harsh territory on these. I'll try to get to 20kg with 2.5kg jumps, then switch to smaller increments after. If I can get BW+25kg 3x5 by year's end, Ill be satisfied.

Rev. Crunch: BWx15,15,15
Threw in some extra reps and man did it burn. I'll stick with this for a few sessions before I think about adding/changing again.

Pretty good day to top off the week. Bad news is I won't get another session until Tuesday. Good news is, it's because I'm off to Rome for 4 days tonight :D Which also means I should be completely full of food for a change  So no updates until Tuesday's workout. Happy lifting all!

A PR is a PR so congrats!

Enjoy Rome, it's certainly a cool place to visit and I've always enjoyed my time there.

As they should be. You need to bust down to Naples for some pizza if you want the real deal though.

Is the John Bull Pub still in Rome? If so you should hit it up.

Just back from Rome after a long weekend of sightseeing, drinking, and eating enough carbs to last the rest of the year

I should note we climbed up and down 550 stairs to the top of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, and I held a solid 30 second squat stretch to take a picture for my friend... so I got my workout in :D

Hopefully making it back to the gym tomorrow!

I slept for about 4 hours last night and missed breakfast, so I'm going to hold off on the gym until tomorrow. I had an exhausting weekend and need the rest. Back at it tomorrow after a good night's sleep and a few good meals.

T-25 days before the return to the good ol' USA.
