I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Cheers mate, I've been struck with the flu, so have missed the last two training sessions but hope to get back on it once I'm better. The squats do take a long time once the weight starts going up, sessions are really tough when you're near your max on all the exercises! That's what it's all about though, eh :)

What a bummer, hope you get well soon. Completely agree with what your saying about max on all excercies, I'm at that position now, its a bloody killer, but as long as I'm hitting PR's I dont mind. :)

Went to the free weights gym today and it was booked out from 1:30pm by Dundee FC, I arrived at 1:15pm! Managed 5 sets of squats @ 80kg before I got kicked out. Easing myself back as I've dropped about 4lbs in weight.

I wanted to continue my workout, so went to the "regular" gym and did:

Wood Choppers 3x10 20kg
1 mile on the treadmill (took me 9 mins!)
Smith machine Bench Press - This was the best upper body exercise I could see. I loaded 50kg onto the bar and did 5x5. DOn't even know if the bar weighs anything on a smith machine, felt really light, so maybe works out at 60kg 5x5.

Overall it was a shitty workout. Except from the treadmill, I was totally buzzing after that.

Squats 82.5kg 5x5
I noticed that I'd been leaning forward slightly on the way back up, probably due to flexibility issues. I've widened my stance slightly and this has helped. It's also made the lift feel tougher.

OHP 45kg 5-5-5-5-3
Not bad. Haven't been hitting my calories recently so this should improve.

Deadlift 85kg 1x5
Man, this lift really punishes you! I can see my grip causing problems soon.

Press Ups 24
Short of time so skipped the rest

Squat 87.5kg 5x5
Getting really tough now, a few reps were kinda slow. Reckon I'll stall before 95kg.

OHP 45kg 5-5-5-4-3
A little bit worse than Friday. My shoulders were kinda sore after squats. I think I'm gonna have to look at the way I'm holding the bar.

Deadlift 90kg 1x5
Felt easier than 85kg!?

Squat 90kg 5x5
This was a bitch!

Bench Press 62.5kg 5x5
Noticed a little problem with my form, I'd been taking the 'tuck your elbows in' advice a bit too literally, meaning they were way too close to my body. Pushed them out to about 45 degrees and the reps went up much easier.

DB Row 35kg 3x5
No bad.

Cheers mate, hopefully! My gym closes for 2 weeks over xmas and new year, so I'm hoping to finish stronglifts in the next few weeks. I'm getting really close to my limit on squats, so don't think I'll be able to add 2.5kg per workout for much longer.

Squat 92.5kg 5x5
Last 2 sets were a killer. A stall at 95kg is possible.

OHP 45kg 3x5
Workouts are taking too long so cut to 3x5. I workout on my lunch so can't be back late from work.

Deadlift 95kg 1x5
My grip was really struggling on the last 2 reps.

Squat 95kg 5-5-5-4-3
Stalling was on the cards. This weight felt immense and reminded me of some of my struggles on the OHP! I feel like my recovery is beginning to suffer a bit because of these heavy weights. Would really love to have a light day worked into my program at the minute! :)

Bench 65kg 5-5-3
Only did 3 sets as pushed for time. Really unhappy with my bench, can't seem to break out of this weight. It feels really tough, reps are slow and the bar never seems to go up and down in the same line.

Dumbell Rows 37.5kg 5 - 5/4 - 4/3
Not bad, used to get more reps at this weight but my form wasn't as kosha as it is now.

I know how you feel, but dont let it get you down, thats a great effort, and thats your first stall at the weight, Im sure you will crack it next time. Dont compare it with a stall on the OHP, the OHP is a bitch when you start stalling and very difficult to get past when it starts happening, unlike the Squat.

Cheers for the encouragement Jimmie. I kinda thought that I would get it next workout as well but you'll see from my next post that it didn't happen. 5x5 squats 3xweek at max intensity is really starting to take it's toll.

Squat 95kg 5-5-3-3-2
Even struggled with some slow reps in the first 2 sets! 3 heavy squat sessions per week is really putting a strain on my recovery.

OHP 47.5kg 3x5
Pleased with this.

Deadlift 100kg 1x5
Grip's gonna be my limiting factor on this lift.

I think it could be time for an intermediate program, there's no way I can keep adding weight every workout. My squat is 1.3 x BW and if you use one of those calculators my 1RM is 109kg - exactly equal to 1.5xBW.
