I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Workouts have been very good so far. Form in most exercises is excellent! The best thing so far is that it looks like my dad isn't seeing training as a chore but he's rather enjoying it which is the best progress I can think of!

Congratulations to Your father. Starting training in his age is something you do not see very often. Inspiring.

What a great log! Nice to see him making progress like this and my hat's off to him for taking his health into his own hands.

No ohp today due to shoulder pain. Everything else is going well. I'm trying to teach him proper breathing at the moment because his breathing is all over the place.

Better this way then no breathing at all but I get your point ;)

haha He actually does hold his breath for a couple of reps sometimes but we're slowly breaking that habit.

Squats - 40 kg 5, 5, 5
Bench Press - 40 kg 5, 5, 5
Barbell rows - 30 kg 5. 5. 5
Tricep pushdown - 22,5 kg 5, and then some cheating.
Reverse crunches - 12, 12, 12

The champ has been dodgy the last couple of days. Last workout was three days ago but I guess at his age 2-3 days in between workouts might be more productive for him. Physique wise he seems more "solid" to me now. Today I think he finally got the concept of how he is supposed to breathe during weight training, I've been trying to get him to focus on this during the last couple of workouts. Breathing properly still doesn't come naturally yet but I'm hoping with some practice it eventually will.

Initially I was doing 3 days/week but now I've dropped back to 5 workouts every 2 weeks. That seems to work the best for me and age probably has some influence.

I think two days recovery for stronglifts might be better for everyone regardless of age. I'm 30 years old and when I was on the program I felt my body recovered fully after two days, one day recovery was enough for me to proceed with the next workout but I felt fully recovered and was ready to go after two days. The way I see it is when you're younger your body can handle a little extra abuse so one day recovery is manageable and you're able to proceed a little more faster, when your older I guess it's wise to take it "slow and steady".

Food and rest also play a large part in the recovery process.
It is not only age.

May this thread rest in peace, though this thread lived a short life it was a good life... etc etc

My father's given up much to my disappointment, although I must admit it is tough at his age to begin training and to stick with it, I am disappointed though because he was doing so well. I think it was more of a mental thing than physical, he just gave up before he could start seeing some results.

Anyway RIP thread and thanks guys for following and for all your help.
