I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Thanks Adamas I might try the stance you said as long as it's not cheating. This must help you with balance right?

Indeed it does! As for the cheating part, then i'm pretty sure that we're allowed this little luxury in an otherwise hell-ish exercise. :D
At least Mehdi himself mentions the stance in this article:

21/07/09

Squats - 67 kg x 5, 5, 5, 4 ,3
Bench press - 52 kg x 5, 5 ,4 ,4 ,4
Inverted rows - 3, 3, 3
Dips -3, 3, 3
Reverse crunch - 12, 12, 12

I stalled on my squats and bench press today. Amazing how much of a difference two measly kgs can make. The volume is starting to feel ridiculous to me. I also did my first proper inverted rows today.

Congrats on the inverted rows :D

But ... don't even think about messing with the program until you get at least to 1xBW.

Why does the volume seem ridiculous ? Because you could not make it ? It only means you are not strong enough.
Are you sure you slept enough the past days ? Ate enough ?

Hi H!

What do you mean by messing with the program?

I mean the increased volume in all the exercises is starting to tire my whole body. My job also involves a lot of heavy labor so I suppose I have to be a little more patient than most guys cause I need more time to recover. The weight is also the heaviest I've ever lifted in my life so it's something new to me and that's what I meant by ridiculous. I sleep around 8 hours a night and I'm pretty sure I eat enough.

Thanks H you're sort of my virtual trainer!

Ah !
For I moment I thought you were considering to switch down the volume.
Luckily I was wrong there ;)

Squats - 75 kg x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 reps
Overhead Press - 43 kg x 5, 4, 4, 4, 4 reps
Deadlifts - 83 kg x 5 reps
Pull ups - 2 reps
Prone bridges - 30 secs

Today I added the weight of the bar to the total weight which is 8 kgs extra so all my numbers are going to go magically up even though they are the same. I finished my squats this time and added one extra rep to the OHP for the last set. Today I also started my first pullups and was surprised I could do 2 because when I started I couldn't even do one. So it looks like all those chinups have helped with my pull up.

Aha, a virtual bump :D

I am not surprised at all about your pull-ups. There is a large transfer from chin to pull and vice-versa.

29/07/09

Squats - 78 kg x 4, 4, 3, 3, 3 reps
Overhead Press - 43 kg x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 reps
Deadlifts - 88 kg x 5 reps
Chin ups - 5, 5, 5
Prone bridges - 30 secs

I'm still stalling with squats at 78 kg. I can't believe I did the OHP. The last rep was a killer but I managed to get it up so I won't have to deload for the next workout. The deadlifts were alright and starting to feel heavy. The OHP and deadlift really killed me in this work out and sucked out all my juice.

Make sure you have plenty of rest and food before you attack those squats again.
Now ... for the time being your total number of reps is still increasing. Think about that, don't think about the next step yet.

Go get them !

I have pain in my right wrist which must be from my last OHP session so no more workouts till the pain goes away.

6/08/09

Squat - 78 kg x 5, 5, 5, 3, 3
Bench press - 60 kg x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5
Inverted rows - 5, 5, 5
Dips - 3, 2, 2
Reverse crunch - 12 reps x 3

Finally my wrist is better and I could get a workout done. It's been about a week since my last workout. I got a few more reps into my squat but have to deload for my next workout and made all my reps for the bench.
