I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

on the floor press? hard to involve chest with the limited rom, it's a triceps exercise in the first place.

Kabir's Training Log

No i meant that... my ability to move that 135 so easily on the floor press, seems to indicate that my triceps are doing all the work on regular bench press. I need to get the chest more involved on flat bench.

I hope you understand now.

lifting

frotn squats - tried back squats, shoulder said no mas, did 1 million warm ups with the ba r- 3x75x2, 3x95, 3x120x3, 8x95x2 *nearly died doing these, went too deep cause it felt so light early*

bench press - fiddled with grip for many sets, my pinky is already on the ring, which is like 6 inches from the collar. I dont know how much wider i should be going- 3105, 3x125x3 *easy* 8x95x2

pushpress to overhead lockout for time, to work core stability - 30sx 95lbsx 3

last night
tried to workout, shoulder wasn't feeling pretty, so i couldnt' do more than 45 on my hang cleans

i decided to try deads, adn tweaked my back at 195. stopped immediatleyt hough, back doesn't feel bad today

got my grippers in the mail today, i can close the trainer with both hands, but it is a bitch!

My grip will probably be toast tonight

lifting otnight
rows - warmed up with some light one arm rows, then 5x95x2, then 5x125x5, 8x100x2
floor pres s- 45x10, 65x5, 85x5, 105x5, 115x3, 135x3, 140x3, 145x3, 8x105x2 -maybe a PR here, i[ve never pressed 145 in any way before, but apparently floor press is supposed to be easier than bench.

in between sets i did

DB swings - trying em out - 15 per hand- repeated 3x - with 7.5kg dumbbell

Ab rollouts - using 2 db's isntead of teh barbell - repeated 3x

I think my problem is i dont use my core enough on any of my lifts. I need to practice bracing it. Right now i just take a big belly of air and hold it.

I was wondering about the floor press - if i can lift more on it than bench, does that say anything about my strengths/weaknesses muscle wise? Or are you supposed to be able to lift more?

Floor bench press is less rom and more triceps. if you have a strong triceps, strong at lockout, you'll be able to lift more weight.

I figured as much. Guess this means my chest strength is a bit lacking perhaps. Thanks Mehdi.

Not lifting until after my competition on the 15th.

DId some clean and presses last night and night before. Also some various drills for cardio.

Got a Captain of Crush, trained that a bit earlier in the week.

Thought i'd update:)

I bought the Trainer, 1, and 2. I can close the trainer, but not always consistently. Yes, it is jiujitsu. I'll be at 185lb weight class.

My plan is to get down to 165 for June for the world championships, or get considerably stronger in the mean time.

Thanks!
