I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Wow, yeah Kathy, what James said. After sets of 20 squats, you have a full pass to huff and puff for a good several minutes afterwards. It wouldn't be at all unusual to feel vaguely like you're drowning during a set of 20 either, or feel like you just cannot fill yourself full of air mid-set.

Wow Kathy, I should spend less time on Mars.

Squat: 70 reps off a 14 inch box is amazing! :D That is like super-pump, or something Dave Tate would do.

Your bench press is moving right up, 122.5 and you only missed one rep, except for the last set, so the rest was worth it.

BBR - I have that same pain. I presumed I was (am) doing something wrong. I will follow your log in case you find a fix that I can use. :D

You are one strong woman.

Do you ever get the whole family out throwing the football? That sounds like fun!

Funny you should mention that Barry! Weather was gorgeous today, 70F, leaves falling in all colors...Kids and I and some friends played at Salt Brook school playground for 2 hours today. AND, I was chasing the 6 yo's, pretend tackling, throwing and generally just getting them riled up. It was fun!! I threw a long pass and winced as my lats whimpered from yesterdays workout! It had a spiral on it though!

Well, alright, I feel better reading you say that. Was beginning to think I was a wuss. The weights are so tiny I just assumed I could cruise right through them.

just caught up on your log Kathy. 20 rep squats and PRs in both presses... kudos!

I'm also a big fan of using bands for pull/chin ups. I'm currently using the blue band and getting about 5-6 reps of chins and 4-5 of pull ups. Will be time to think about shifting gear into the little red band, which looks like it won't offer much help! It does make all the difference being able to do more quality reps than struggle and squirm on the bar for one or two, doesn't it.

I like reading about your sporting activities with the kids too. My best friend (who I workout with, he posts as jnjh) and I have stopped being drinking buddies and starting being gym buddies. In part because we want to set a good example to our future families (Jason will be a dad in just a few weeks). I look forward to having Sunday afternoon lifting sessions/ strongman competitions in the back yard, with a big BBQ feast to follow. The kegs will be lifted, not drunk from!

Kathy, finishing a set of 20 rep squats with just the bar will leave you huffing & puffing - you have every right to huff, puff or even collapse to the floor.

Nice work, lady.

Leading by example with kids actually works. They are really interested in what I am doing and why I am doing it so it's great that you and Jason are in the habit now. My guys are dying to get into the weight room (they are not allowed, yet) but they do pullups and their version of pushups at home and at the park. I also have them balance on an upside down BOSU ball (those blue half ball things). They think they are surfing

@lifthard: Thanks Steve-I feel better hearing you guys say that. Really thought I had lost all cardio capabilities!
I am laying off squats for awhile. The lower back issue (which has now sort of moved to be a hip issue too) keeps coming back every time I do them, even with just the bar. SO frustrating.

My computer got a virus so I've been unable to post until now. Computer tech got it all cleaned up and I upgraded my security software so all should be good. Note to self: When the pop up from security software says it's time to renew your subscription, don't wait 6 months to renew it

First Spin class - 60 minutes.

Hey, this is kind of fun! Might have found cardio I can do during the winter and I might actually enjoy. Sopping wet when I was finished and drank 32oz of water during class (which is a lot for me).

I enjoy spin classes. They are a pretty fun way of getting your cardio in if you can't do it outside.
