I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Another ridiculous display of otherwordly strength from the great Konstantinovs. This is done while recovering from a back injury incurred during squatting. Looks to me like he's bulking up, maybe going after Bolton's record? I think he can do it.

432kg! 8) That's just sick, real sick weight. I look at him and think his grip strength must be scary, imagine him gripping you by the throat, not that he 's a bad guy et al. 8) I love watching this man you can really see the effort he is putting in, in lifting the bar from the floor.

I think he might be going after Bolton's record, is there a way of finding this out?
Your a true inspiration Konstantin.

Is that what Nietzsche meant by 'overhuman'?

Doesn't it look like he's just touching parallel? Scary weights anyway.

Maybe, but then again that's all he really needs to do as a power lifter.

Looks like it would pass to me.

Read a Konstantinovs interview a while ago in which he specified he only did oly squats. I was looking forward to watching him do ass to grass oly squats (Koklyaev style), but I guess he just meant squatting with a fairly narrow stance and narrow bar grip?

You don't need to go below parallel in powerlifting competitions?

No, parallel is all you need. And I also look forward to seeing him do ATG high bar squats...I saw a site that had a translation of his workouts, and he said he started doing Olympic squats cause he felt they helped more with deadlifts.

"Olympic squats" are just high bar squats; depth doesn't have anything to do with it. O-lifters generally go rock bottom because that's actually the position they are strongest in and a position they need to work on because of their sport. Obviously, that's not the case for a sport like powerlifting.

And it's a pretty common sentiment that high bar squats help more with deads. The start of a conventional pull is all about leg drive, so the more upright position of high bar has more carryover.

I read a recent interview with Konstantinov (in russian) and he said that he used to do Oly squats in the past. Now he does box squats and powerlifting style free squats.
