I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Monday 4/27

First day back in the gym since surgery. I'm so happy to be lifting again!!! Surgery went fine, No Cancer :D :D . Recovery was easy, but the doctor made it 2 wks. for recovery instead of the 1 wk. she originally told me...arrrrgggh. I was going totally nuts at home, really, it wasn't pretty.

So, back in the saddle again. Started with a lite version of Workout A. I was leary about how lifting would feel today, i know i lost strength over the last 3wks...but things really didn't feel bad. Been eating clean, but hard to keep up with 6meals/day...but my weight is the same, 118lbs. I've been doing mobility work on shoulders and hips/hamstrings, as well as, working on the bottom position of my squat while at home. I think it helped with shoulder comfort and getting a deeper squat. Here's today's work:

warm-up
8min elliptical, heart rate 147
leg swings 2x10 (L-R)
side lunges 1x10 (L-R)
supine bridges 1x10 5s
shoulder dislocations 2x10

Squats
12lbs. 1x20
45lbs. 5x5
55lbs. 5x5

Squats felt good, did 'em all high bar with thumbless grip. Shoulders felt good throughout and i know i went deep enough. It was good for the body and confidence to stay light today.

Push-ups 13/8/6

Bench
45lbs. 10/7 no spot
60lbs. 5/3 with spot, trainer's idea to add weight
45lbs. 10 reps. worked on form, trainer said my bar path was all off

Inv.Rows 5 (chest only touched bar on first one, rest within 2")
5 (same thing)
4 all partials

Rev.Crunches 17/9/7

Stretching
Good morning ham.stretch 5x20sec
Warrior lunge stretch 3x20sec
butterfly stretch 3x20sec
lying glute stretch 3x20sec
**got these great stretches from elV's log...love his TL, gotta get over there and tell him strait away.

Also, i need to learn how to evaluate my body's response to these lifts. In the week before surgery i accumulated so much muscle tension in my upper back/shoulders i ended up with limited ROM in my neck and pain/knots/trigger points esp. in the traps. Horrible. I'm hoping it had more to do with anticipating the surgery and less to do with training. I need to learn how to avoid this, if it's avoidable, or work thru it. I got Clair-Davies book and did lots of soft tissue work with a tennis ball...it helped somewhat...better than doing nothing.

On to Wkt.B on Wed. :-)
