I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hello everyone,
I'm on week five of the 5x5 beginner program, and I have run into a problem with my right hand.  Post workout and for a few days after, my right hand becomes very weak.  I know this is vague but the best I can describe it is as a big loss of strength, mostly in the thumb, first, and second fingers.  This loss of strength makes simple things like writing, zipping my backpack, tying shoes, and even turning the ignition in my car very difficult; I often have to use my left hand instead.  I find this odd because I am right handed, and I would think that my right hand should have more strength then my left.  I believe I am using proper technique for all exercises, and I stretch thoroughly before each workout, including wrist stretches and shoulder dislocations.  If anyone has any suggestions or solutions for the cause of this, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thanks, Sean.

Could be anything. Bad technique on the bench press/overhead press, carpal tunnel syndrome, bad postural habits, etc. No idea with this little info Sean.

Ok thanks anyways.  I thought this may have been a commonly known problem in strength training, no hurt in checking.  I'm going to deload 5-10lb and take a rest week, see if that will fix the problem.  Maybe I was just overworking it.
