I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Yeah, seems so.

When Rippetoe announced he was going to stop doing the Crossfit basic barbell cert and start doing his own thing, I kinda wondered if it was a coincidence or not that there have been a lot more Dave Tate videos turning up in the Crossfit Journal, and even a Simmons thing or two. I guess it's not.

$600 is not at all cheap. On the other hand, damn, that would be an interesting two days.

I thought Tate left Crossfit as well, which is why they recruited Simmons.

Neither Simmons nor Tate are "crossfit" in the sense that they are tightly affiliated or promoting the crossfit program itself (nor was Rippetoe for that matter). They're just "crossfit friendly" if you will, in that Louie's doing the cert for powerlift related stuff (which noticeably only covers the 3 powerlifting lifts, whereas Rip also covered the OHP and power clean), and Tate is giving more and more talks that get filmed and end up in the crossfit journal.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but it's just kinda ... surprising and odd. Maybe there is hope for peace in the middle east after all, or maybe in the end business is business.

In the end $600 per pop speaks volumes and that's a growing market. So people change their tunes and everyone makes money.

All about the money because those guys are so different from Crossfit that it's ridiculous to me. Sure they can teach the lifts but that's pretty much where the similarities between their stuff and Crossfit ends.
