I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Lower back twinge whilst squatting only

Hi, I've recently started te programme and taken my squat up to about 65k

LAst two workouts, I've noticed a slight pain in my lower back just as I'm getting up and out of the squat towards the last two - three reps in the last two sets. After I finish, I feel a little pain for a few minutes and them 'm fine. Is this just the weight bearing down on my back? Could it be my form is wrong (although it looks just like in the videos)? Anybody got any ideas on this and what if anything I need to do?

I'm booking a sports massage for this week not sure if that will make any difference but I like to have one every six weeks

Could you post those videos? You could either be rounding your back, hyperextending it or you could be doing a good morning while coming out of the hole. It's hard to tell without a video.

Sorry, not got any videos of me. I squat in front of a mirror so I meant I think I look like they do in the videos.

But if you think it'll help. I'll try and get a video made :)

Im guessing it might be round lower back, if its at the bottom you get the pain.
Take a look at this video, do you think it might be this? Going deeper than your lower back can handle?

Look at his lower back when hitting the bottom, thats bad.

I do go down quite low. But the pain (if you can call it that) hits as I'm pushing up, about the halfway point and it seems tobe coming from weight bearing down on my back. Will get a video made this week

Hey,

I've had that problem with squatting, and found that it was because I tended to hyper-extend my back while re-racking the weight. I correct it by keeping my core tight while re-racking, and deliberately walking the weight back to the rack.

Perhaps this will help,

Ok, here's a video of my fourth set today, the twinge started on the fourth rep (almost non-existant) and I felt it a little more on the fifth. I didnt do a fifth set because I wanted your opinions first and I knew by the fourth or fith rep of that set I would have really felt it.

Sorry, about the orientation, I'll try and rectifiy it tommorrow (with my other sets to show if my form dips with fatigue) but I was keen to get some opinions up :)

Nybarius, I don't think that's my issue, but please look at my vid and maybe you'll see something I can't recognise

Sorry, don't know how to post a vid either :/ lol

Any critique on my form? I know the videos quality is crappy (and the wrong way round), if that's an issue then let me know and I'll see if I can get something better...

Your back rounds at the bottom - not much, but there is a lack of tightness in the back which could be dangerous at heavy weights. Another thing is that your knees travel forward at the bottom. Your butt should go back & down. While coming up, the butt should come up (hip drive) while your back is held tight & your shoulders push into the bar.
