I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Great to hear there is at least one other Stronglifter in Vancouver. I've passed out the link to a bunch of people at the gym, but who knows if any of them ever check in. I work out at the Mount Pleasant CC. How 'bout you? Got a good setup where you are? My CC is going to move to Main/Kingsway next year and I'm afraid they're going to go all modern with the equipment and drop the bb and power rack. I need to get a letter-writing campaign going while they are still deciding things.

@Kib:
Mine is a little gym on West Broadway called West side Gym. It's nice mainly because when I go (at around 10:45 am) there are few people and usually using machines. I went ot the Kits CC but it's always full at that time and they wanted me to pay the full year in advance, which was a lot. What a difference 8 years ago when they let me pay in installments. The feee is also nice because I go on the off peak hours.
he Main/Kingsway CC will look great, I have the feeling they will have some respect for free weights.

Good thing, and as long as the squirrel banges them outdoors. . .  LOL

Good workout guys!

Blame it on the shoes!
Today the squats started bad, with 70.2kg, going forwrd, even when I tried tcurl my toes. The first set was plain bad. I started thinking what was going on and for some reason my sight focused on the shoes. I decied to remove them and lower the weight to 65.8 and voila! the technique improved a lot and breaking parallel was great.
Squat: 4 (with 70.2kg and shoes) /5/5/5/4 with 65.8kg
Overhead:5/5/5/5/4 with 38.4kg
Deadlifts 5 with 86kg
Pull-ups 6,5,4, (I will hire the girl from the video to show me how to do a lot, hahaha!)
Have a great weekend everybody!

Nice to have the place quiet when you go, huh? It's usually quite empty when I'm there, and I love it. I'm out looking for flat-bottom shoes these days, too. I've wondered about barefooting it. Let us know if they give you any flack!

@Mehdi:
I was wearing New Balance sunning shoes. Even if they are for exercise they still have the heel a bit higher and that really makes you go forward. By the way, great vid about success Mehdi, thanks for keeping us inspired.

@ Kib:
I will look for something flat, if I find something I'll let you know Kib. Going "foot commando" sounds good, lol

Today I did the work out with those shoes one uses when walking on rocky beaches. They felt good but I don't think they will last long. I spoke with a trainer at the gym and suggested going barefoot, that sounds good too.
The squats felt way better than before with the flat shoes. I will keep the weight to get used to them but over all the feeling was great.
My right shoulder felt a bit weird on the Bench press, perhaps a combination of adding a bit more weight and the fact that I did some painting yesterday.
Dips were less than before. The shoulder thing, I guess.
Squat: 5/5/5/5/5 with 65.8kg
Bench press: 5/5/4/5/3 with 59 kg
Barbell row: 5/5/5/5/5 with 65.8kg
Dips: 8,8,6

Keep the spirit everyone!

Yes, thanks Mehdi. I will read everything you have about shoulders. I can displace the arm from the shoulder, not totally but you can feel it. I will take pics tonight and post them to give you an idea, the y might come handy.

Any update on the photos ?
Don't forget, slippers are optional, but white briefs are de rigueur for 2008.

Mouse,
That's my main problem, my briefs are peach! perhaps I will switch to my white thongs, LOL. I haven't opened an account for the pics, I'll post some on hotmail messenger and see if I can post them here from there.

Today was great. I went barefoot for the squats, overhead press, and deadlift and I felt great stability and better performance. On the pull-ups I crossed my legs and bent them back to stop the swinging, they felt better.
Squats: 5/5/5/5/5 with 65.8kg
Overhead press: 5/5/5/5/4 with 40.7kg
Deadlift: 5 with 88.4kg
Pull-ups 5,4,4
@ Mehdi,
I had no problems with the overhead, actually I increased weight. I'll do more shoulder dislocations. Keep you posted.
Good liftings everyone!
