I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Great stuff, mackanno. Those shoulder dislocations have been really great for me, too.

So here we have the numbers for today's workout. Not bad, I did not add weight due to the shoulder thing. Sqauts felt really good, faster and better control. Dips lowered, I asume it had to do with the shoulder.
Squat: 5/5/5/5/5 with 68kg
Bench press: 5/5/5/5/4 with 56.8kg
Barbell row: 5/5/5/5/5 with 65.8kg
Dips: 13,7,7
I gave a trainer at the gym the web site last wednesday and today we chatted about it. He told he liked because of the info but also the "atmosphere". I agree, the site gives some zen-like feeling. Weird to explain.
Have a great weekend all!

Thanks Mouse. I have some trouble with my shoulder, but the right one is bugging me. Good thing that bench press will be until next wednesday, I hope it will give it time to adjust and rest.

You'll get that bp on Wed, mack. Rest up over the w/end. :) We are on the same schedule and lifting most of the same weight. I feel the pressure every time I go to the gym: "gotta keep up with mackanno"!

Mac
Have a look at this thread about c-section and ab training.
There are some good links to TGUs - Turkish Get Ups

Hey mackanno, I have no idea if you are interested in this or not, but since you live in Vancouver, I'll let you know. I just posted an ad on Craigslist to sell some extra creatine and glutamine that I ordered from Whey Depot. I didn't know how much I'd have to use and thought it was more like whey where you're using big scoops. Anyway, here's the link to the ad that says it all. Don't even mention it if you're not into supplements or whatever, just thought I'd let you know in case you just happen to be considering it. Thanks! :)

Hey mack, good job today. I don't see chin-ups in your log. Are you substituting pull-ups instead? And how come you're not doing the 8 on the first set like you did on Feb 11? No slacking, mack! Maybe you're doing the (far better and harder) full-arm extension now? Or is the ohp getting tiring? I'm sure feeling them these days, as you saw today...

Mackanno training log

Postby mackanno » Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:21 am

Last week I had some trouble with the right shoulder, and I think that hampered the chin-ups, which I do. I hope the weekend was long enough for it to rest, I'll see next wednesday.
On the other hand, the OH press was nice today, I am increasing weight since I started doing them standing up (finding out I was wrong doing them sitting down was not very funny) Next time I do the pull-ups I'll imagine a nice steak on top of the bar, LOL

Squat felt a bit shaky, I guess I was not concenrating (than you Kib for sitcking that steak dream in my mind!, lol) but did them all nevertheless. Bench press felt better but will keep the weight since the right shoulder still felt a bit funny. I asked a trainer about adding weight to the dips and she suggeted to get 20x3 before thinking on that, I liked it and I am looking forward that milestone.
Squats: 5/5/5/5/5 with 74.8
Bench press: 5/5/5/5/5 with 56.8kg
Barbell row: 5/5/5/5/5 with 68kg
Dips: 14,8,8

I just watched the vid about turkish get ups, and I guess I will have to hire a dance teacher! I'll do them at home in front of the monitor to get a decent technique before my debut at the gym . . .

Yeah, mack, practice them at home first. No-one else at your gym will be doing them so they'll all be wondering wtf and watching out of the corner of their eye. I jotted little stick figure step-by-steps in my notebook and did the first one or two just holding my notebook over my head. The weird thing is flipping the movements for the other side. Give 'em a shot! Mouse has shamed me into adding them to my routine, so I feel no qualms about doing the same to you! :D
