I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Body weight in pounds divided by the height in inches squared and the results multiplied by 7,250 and the results divided by the percent body fat.

{(body weight in pounds) / (height in inches)2 * 7,250} / % body fat.

I found this formula on Di Pasquale's site (there is a calculator there so you don't have to do the math). Here is the link:http://www.metabolicdiet.com/mdiet_mindex.htm

I think it's a much better formula than BMI since it takes body fat percentage into the calculation. What do you think? Is it a useful way of measuring body composition changes?

In reality the final point doesn't really matter since it's the improvement that counts.

That's the only true thing that article says to me. Unless I missed it he doesn't explain what that multiplier is derived from or how he came up with his upper and lower limits for his scale. Is it better than BMI? Of course, anything is better than BMI.

Good point LN. I've been a bit out of it lately, I guess I'm not as discerning as I should be. I have no idea where he got the multiplier or where the limits of the scale came from.

I was thinking that something like this would be useful since body fat is a bit subjective (what is okay for one may seem too fat for another). A scale like this could let you know when you are pushing it either way. Say you were bulking up a bit, when you started to move too far on the scale it might be time to ease up.
