I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

YA has a point, Arnold learnt most of his knowledge in the 70s or when ever he was around. plus he was a bodybuilder, about as useful as a crisp packet.

and stop being a girl and lift the weight yourself. what you going to do if your placebo is not there, skip the training session. nice one.

i think schwarzenegger knows a little about the subject than you do.

He definitely knows more than me about juicing.

I like schwarzie, inspiring bodybuilding, cinematographic and now political career. Encyclopedia of bodybuilding was the 1st book I bought on weigth lifting. 90% of the book doesn't work for non-juicers and that will get you injured.

One example of how it describes exercise technique in ways that guarantees injuries, barbell row from blocks, check lower back.

by moving the weights myself. a spotter is nice to have, am not saying it isn't, but the spotter shouldn't grope the bar. rather use a rack with pins the catch the bar if i can't get it back up. i have them low enough that the bar can touch my chest and not the pins. but if i relax the pins will take the weight.

i thought this thread was about the spotter touching the bar on the rep? i obviously did not mean actually groping the bar.

truth is, no professional bodybuilder or powerlifter trains without a spotter (or two). sure, occassionally you'll work out on your own, but that's not where you're making your biggest gains. i know this from years of competing.

I wasn't talking about a situation where the spotter is doing anything more than placing his hands under the bar, hardly even touching, if touching it at all (in my case I think it was only his index fingers that ever came in contact with the bar). The three sets I did that day were harder than any bench workout I've done before...not only did I feel it in my chest, shoulders, and triceps for the rest of the day...I could feel it in my biceps and back. I know for a fact that I lifted harder than ever before during those sets. The only two things that were different between that workout and the ones I've done before were that the spotter was doing things differently and as a very experienced lifter he was telling me what weight to put on the bar for each set and telling me how many reps to go for.
