I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

i agree, it's all mental. sometimes my spotter does that and it'll feel like he's helping but he's really not. it's not something that you should do all the time though, just only when you need it. and everyone on here should stop arguing

At my gym currently a lot of guys spot by holding their hands under the bar every rep especially if you tell them you are only going to put up 5 or less and they always say they did nothing after the set. This personally is really annoying to me. You all seem to be lifting with experienced individuals who know how to spot. But whether or not it provides a mental edge, I'm the one under the bar trying to push myself, keep your hands away until it is obvious assistance is needed. I apologize, this is a topic i needed to vent about slightly, as I have had sets ruined recently due to quick draw spotting.
The bands won’t make you squat big; check between your legs before you change anything. It takes more than a band to make you squat. -Chuck Vogelpohl
