I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hello,
this is my very first post here :)

I have a question about GOMAD. I would like to start doing GOMAD but I want to do it a little bit different.
I want to drink 500ml Milk with 100g cocoa powder. This has 641 cal. and 20g protein.
I want to drink it 4 times a day. So it makes over 2500 cal. With additionally 3 meals, I think i will be eating about 3500 cal.

What do you think? Would it work to gain weight? I would do it 2 month long.
Im 174cm and 59 kg.

And sorry for my bad english ;)

I am not an expert but my take on it is that you are really asking two things.

1) You want to do GOMAD but not GOMAD because you are actually only going to have two litres of milk a day instead of 4.

See http://stronglifts.com/gomad-8-common-mistakes-you-must-avoid/ for some comment on 1/2 GOMAD or 1/4 GOMAD

2) You want to add in a high carb food (cocoa powder) to make up for not doing GOMAD.

Cocoa powder is not a substitute for milk. It has a totally different nutritional composition. I am not really qualified to comment on how apprpriate cocoa powder is going to be for your diet.

It may well be that adding cocoa powder to your milk will make the milk easier to drink and hence help you to stick to GOMAD, but the powder should not be substituted for the milik in gomad.

I guess what I am trying to say is you can go ahead and try 1/2 GOMAD + Cocoa powder and it may work for you, but you shouldn't confuse it with GOMAD and expect the same or similar results. That is something different.

Why do you want to modify GOMAD? Seems to me you're just looking for a shortcut. That speaks volumes about your attitude.

On a side note, you should be eating 3500 calories of solid food in addition to GOMAD.

So it makes over 2500 cal. With additionally 3 meals, I think i will be eating about 3500 cal.

Three meals should not total only 1000 calories. That would make them 300 calories each, or equivalent to about three eggs and a piece of fruit. That's a snack, not a meal.

Do not think about doing GOMAD, especially this version of it with all that extra sugar, until you are eating at least 2500 calories a day of good healthy food, every day.

Ok. Its not GOMAD I know.
But what about oat flakes instead of cocoa? And yes. I will try to eat more than 2000 calories with normal food.

Im sure he can't handle 3500kcal of solid of food on top of GOMAD. 2000-2500kcal sounds more reasonable for him.

aiko, it would be helpful to know WHY you do not want to do the full gomad. You may have a good reason but we need to know why you are wanting to do only about half with some other food substituting for the full gomad.
