I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

I went to a workshop on motivation recently and learned some simple ideas I thought would be appropriate here. Especially given some of the posts I've read lately, seems like some people have some issues with motivation.

Anwyay, here goes. Motivation problems can lead to problems in the following: 1) not starting something, 2) not persisting, and 3) not working smart enough. I think we've all seen people who fall into one of these catagories on here.

What causes motivation problems?
1) Does not value the task: leads to avoiding starting or persisting (example: "I don't like squats so I'm going to do leg extensions with the pink weights").

2) Under or Over Confidence: avoids persisting and / or working smart (example: Underconfident "I can't do it, this is too hard ". or the opposite Overconfident "I don't need to listen to what they say. I'm not doing 5x5 anymore. I've been training for two whole months now and I know everything already. I'm going to invent my own way of working out.")

3) Strong Negative Emotion: someone who is depressed or angry. (example: "Fuck this shit!")

Additionally underconfidence can go hand-in hand with the depression emotion if they fail at something. And anger and blaming others is a sign that they started with overconfidence and failed.

So if you find yourself saying anything like the above (yeah I exajerrated with the pink weights) check yourself. If not, then you must be motivated to start, persist, and work smart. So keep it up!

..thanks :)
"Today was yesterday's tomorrow..."-a poet
So why do I have to try so hard today when it is going to be my past, because I don't know if there will be a tomorrow. Live my life everyday!

Sometimes, a hug is all what we need.
