I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

OK. We have a whole wealth of knowledge. We definitely have the right tools to get big and strong looking and lean. I was just wondering how, let's say, Hugh Jackman gets so ripped and built so quickly for a role like Wolverine? It's pretty incredible.

When you have millions to spend on dedicated personal trainers, nutritionists, chefs, etc it probably becomes much easier to get ripped in a hurry. Also, that movie was horrible. :D
Goals:
Squat- 315 lbs 5x5
Deadlift- 400 lbs 1x5 (regular grip)
Press- 205 lbs 1x5

I'm thinking his paycheck is also a pretty good incentive.

YA is exactly right. We like to say that we're 100% dedicated to our training, but if any of us had millions of dollars to spend training where and with whoever I wanted, ate exactly what we wanted (or had someone else tell us what to eat), it would be a different story, and had no obligations other than training, it would be a different story.

Hugh Jackman was pretty muscular in the other X-men films. He had a loooong time between the last one and this one to work at it, so its hardly an overnight change.

Do you remember the boy that turns into metal from X3- Last Stand ? He had an impressive physique!

Don't forget to clarify that you wish you were born there AND a weightlifter, otherwise it probably wouldn't be nearly as interesting an experience. ;)

I was talking about spending my entire life on a communal farm, but I guess being a weightlifter would be cool too.

I agree with young athlete but lets not forget two other things. Steroids is one. IMO there is no reason to believe that actors for the most part are clean. Brad Pitt used them in Troy, I believe others have also.

Also its much easier to drop your body fat to 5% than gaining 15 lbs of fat free muscle. Getting ripped would create an illusion of more muscularity as well.

Christian Bale went from 130 lbs (in The Machinist) to 230 lbs in Batman Begins in just 6 months. It's impressive even if he took steroids.

Just saw him on Jimmy Kimmell the other night and he said it took about a year to get that way. He said he did a lot of pullups (kind of sounded a lot like the 300 workout) and ate a lot. I think he said he ate a chicken every day.

A friend gave me a link to this website (china-based supplements store) and they have an article about Hugh Jackman's routine.

http://www.worldhealthstore.com.cn/en/i ... tness-news

not sure whether that is actually HJ's real routine but it looks more like a BB type of training.. yet the guy really has an amazing physique !
