I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Type Pavel Tsatsouline into your search engine of choice. Or go to his website, dragondoor.com

Well, his website isn't very useable or well-organized imo. Not as much as stronglifts.com, in any case. But I'll look into it. Thanks

I've really been meaning to get into kettlebells. I use 45lb dumbells to do kettlebell style swings and such, but I don't think it's the same.

Ya they seem to really work the core and abs in an almost aerobic way. I'll definitely have to get one of his books.

If you plan on getting a kettlebell, go with Enter the Kettlebell. I have it, pretty good instruction on the lifts (swings, get-ups, clean&press, snatch...) Very good stuff.

I've read that the stance of your squat affects which muscles it targets more. A wide squat will work the glutes more and a narrow squat works the quads more. You said that you are growing unproportionately, are you squatting very wide?

I wish I had evidence too back this up, but I tried body weight squats right now in both stances and I could feel the difference.

just curious. Crazy meaning his stuff is not for normal guys or the average population? Or crazy as in weird and mentally unstable lol

I always thought his stuff was great; really useful. Though his DL 5x a week, ( no squats, rows and bench program) seems to run counter-intuitive to what Stronglifts and Mark Rippetoe advocate.

Interesting reading this thread... It's something bothering me too. Although I'm 5'2 and torso dominant, so having such short legs and an arse that sticks out rudely behind my back and hamstrings is rather unsightly and reminiscent of dwarfism (which I do not have, mind you). I can deal with it as is, well with the occasional bout of discontentment, but I sure hope it doesn't get any bigger!

All that said, I think having a very lean abdominal region and a large chest and upper back would help a lot for the OP, unless he is simply genetically disadvantaged aesthetically, like me. (I am already broad and muscular everywhere else too).

Personally I'm going to keep on going with the squats and just deal with it - the kind of woman who finds a guy as short as me sexually attractive is probably not phased by bull arses anyway - but I just thought I'd speak up and point out you're not the only one finding such (disproportionate) growth unappealing.

Your happiness is the most important thing at the end of the day, not how strong you are. So if you know it's really going to affect your spirits too much, just don't do heavy back squats.
