I really debated about starting a log. This journey gets very personal at times. It's hard to announce to the world things you didn't even want to admit to yourself. But that's why I did it. It needed to be right in front of me so I could deal with it head on. And I needed support to get through it. Who would have thought I'd find that here of all places. But I did. These guys have been a great help and encouragement through some tough times for me and they probably don't even realize it. - Pagangoddess

Hello all,

I am new to the forums. I can't quite remember where I first heard of stronglifts. I've been getting into lifting for the last year and a half and have been keeping track of a number of blogs and sites. I initially got more into lifting because I was doing martial arts/self defense, specifically Krav Maga and brazilian jiu jitsu, and wanted something that would help me with that. I've had to quit Krav and bjj (too much money spent on that compared to time able to devote to it) and have been focusing on lifting more regularly.

The stronglifts 5x5 program appealed to me because it seemed to combine a number of things that I'd been reading - compound lifts, lower reps, squats and deadlifts, and adding weight to the bar. I've been doing some version of the lifts in the stronglifts 5x5 program for about a year, I think I started with a program like the one in Starting Strength 3 sets of 5 reps on the major lifts, including a power clean. I moved to the Stronglifts 5x5 program in mid-October. Because I had some experience doing the lifts and think my form is passable, I did not start with an empty bar. I've been making good progress since then, with a few stalls - particularly on the OHP and bench press.

I have a couple of questions, now though, that I think are probably better to be asked in the 5x5 or strength training forums.

Thanks!

That's all -its a good community you have here and I like the program.
